Mrs. Laura Marsh and daughter Nola, of Coudersport, were guests of I M. M. Larrabee and family over Sun day. Miss Ruth Weidenhamer, of Clarks burg, West Va., and Miss Isabel Bates, of Williamsport, are guests of Dr. and Mrs. R. P. Ileilman and family. Miss Maud Stephens, a trained nurse, of Couderspart, and Wm. Stephens, of Shingle House, were guests of Henry Auchu and family over Sunday. C. H. Potter, wife and daughter, of New York city, are guests of Jasper Harris and wife, West Fifth sreet. Mrs. Potter is Mrs. Harris' sister. Mr. Fred Seger returned home on Sunday, from visiting her parents at Bristol, W. Va. Her father was slight ly improved when ahe left for home. Mrs. B. Coyle, Miss Lena Coyle and Mr. Harold Seger have returned from a two weeks visit with relatives and friends at Curwensviile and Blanchard. Thos. Stephens came down from Ridgway last Sunday, where he is superintending state road work, to see how the new state road works here (?). Ileilman Assistant Teller in First National Bank, has purchased E. H. Gregory's interest in the hardware * firm of F. V. Heilman & Co. Mrs. Henry Auchu and daughter, Miss Edna, returned home last Friday from visiting at Coudersport. Miss « Mollie Stephens, returned home with them. District Attorney J. P. MeNarney and wife left Monday morning for De troit, Mich., taking the boat route from Buffalo. Mr. MeNarney is a delegate from this state to the Maccabee Nation al Convention. Miss Carrie Huff, who is attending state meeting of C. M. B. A.., at Phila delphia, we notice is registered at Windsor Hotel. This hotel either Am erican; or European, is very popular with people in this section. Mrs. I). C. Groves, of Brockwayville, Pa., is visiting her parents in town, Mr. and Mrs. Will Lyons. The PRESS sanctum was favored by a social call from the lady, who was for years em ployed in this office as clerk. Our old friend Geo. Baxter, who has for several years been employed at Climax Powder works was a PRESS visitor last Monday eveniug and car ried away a receipt for the paper up to June (», 1908. Miss Nollio Fox, of Dußois, a professional nurse, visited in Empori um on Friday. Miss Bessie Calkins of Dußois, is vis iting in town, guest of Mr. and Mrs. T. F.Moore and daughter. Mrs. Joseph Kay and daughter Sara have arrived at Pichuck, Wash., to visit J. L. Norie and wife. Mrs. Bush, night 'phone operator, who has been receiving treatment at Curwensville, is expected home to-day greatly improved. Chas. Bolan formerly of this place, but now of Potter county, was shaking hands with old acquaintances in town the past few days. Miss Christie McDonald has returned from visiting at Dußois. Her cousin, Miss Agnes McDonald, of Driftwood returned home with her. Mrs. B. Egan went to Buffalo yester day to be present at a serious operation to be performed on her sister, Mrs. Rose Lupoid, of Olean, N. Y. Guy D. Felt and bride returned home Sunday morning. They will com mence keeping house in Mrs. Felt's new residence, when completed. Capt. Perry Smith, accompanied by his daughter, Miss Mabel, visited T. H. Norris and family last Friday—Miss Smith remaining until Sunday. Misses Ellen Lyman and Cleo Fauscher, (sister and niece of Mrs. Frank Day) of Roulette, Pa., are visit- Mr. and Mrs. Day at this place. Miss Marion Brady, accompanied by her brother Ned went to Washington, Pa., last Monday, to remain with her grand-mother until school commences. Mr. and Mrs. H. B. Smith and Miss Jean Mclnnes, of Corry, Pa., are visit ing friends in town. They will re main here for Mr. John W. Trotter's funeral. F. M. Zelie, of New York city, is visiting in Emporium, guest at the Henry Ludlam residence on South Maple street. Mr. Z. is engaged in business in New York. Mr. M. B. Spence who has been visit ing his brother B. L. Spence return ed to his home in Brownsville, Wednes day morning. While here he visited his brother Lloyd, of Sterling Run, who is in very poor health. Hubert Brady has entered upon the dischargo of his duties with the Toledo, 0., iron works. If Hubert makes as good an iron master hs his father is, he will be a dandy. However, ho is a chip off the old block. County Surveyor Geo. P. Jonas has returned from New York city, where lie attended the marriage of his sister. Miss Cecil to Mr. R. C. Jessurn. The bride and groom sailed for Europe to be absent three months. Harrison Gates and wife, of Couders port, were guests of Josiah A. Fisher and F. H. Pearsall and families, over Sunday. Mr. Gates, who is a prosper ous Coudersport merchant was a PRESS visitor on Saturday, accompanied by Frank IL Pearsall. The Bucktail monument committee met at Driftwood last Saturday to ar range for the erection and dedication of the monument. An effort will be made to have the dedication in Octo ber or November. W. H. Cramer continues to rush the work on his new brick block, the first story being up. We arc informed he has the contract for the erection of Frank Shives' solid brick store adjoin ing Mr. Cramer's block. Good. W. H. Smith, of Sterling Run, trans acted business in Emporium on Mon day, being Constable and Collector of Lumber, coming here to make a re turn. He is a very efficient official and popular with the people. We are al ways pleased to meet our old friend. B. E. Smith, of St. Marys, accom panied by his brother, John E. Smith, of Sterling Run, wore agreeable PRESS visitors yesterday. "Ep" is located at St. Marys and while he is no longer a resident of Cameron eounty, his heart is here. Like all former Cameron county boys he reads the PRESS. Rev. D. A. Parsells and wife, of South Park Avenue, Buffalo, are guests of Mr. and Mrs. D. W. Morton, at Sizerville, enjoying the cool mountain air and the cozy home of our genial friends. Mr. and Mrs. Morton have one of the most comfortable homes fresh spring water, hot and cold water, bath, etc. There is no reason why other farmers cannot enjoy the luxury of similar homes. Alfred Hirsch, of New York city, ac companied by his daughter Flora and son George, arrived in Emporium on Monday, to visit R. H. Hirsch and wife, on Maple street, for a few days, when they leave for Buffalo to pay a visit to Emma, now Mrs. Weil. "Al", as we all called him, left here twelve years ago and has been in the employ of Hirsch & Graf for years. The firm are manufacturers and importers of all kinds of baskets. We, as well as all old friends were pleased to fjrcet him, who was one of onr most industrious and upright citizens when he resided here. Thomppon are this afternoon entertain ing a large party of lady friends, at the home of the former. The ladies are certainly having a grand good time this summer. Bless them all, they deserve it. Parker Jackson, The New Warner "fog horn" porter arrived yesterday from his summer outing at Lewisaurg, Philadelphia and Atlantic City.
