Josiali Howard went to Harris hurg Sunday evening and entered up on his duties in the legislature. Chas. E. Crandell and wife went to Williamsport last Saturday, to visit relatives and friends, returning Mon day morning. Fritz, of Harris burg, arrived in Emporium last week to visit with friends for a few days. They are guests at Hew Warner. William Gaunt/., who is in the em ploy of Furnace Supply Co., was a PRESS caller on Monday and renewed his father's paper for another year. Mr. and Mrs. Jasper Harris are visit ing in New York City this week. Mr. Harris will take advantage of the op portunity to select early spring goods. Miss Eva Marshall, daughter ol Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Marshall, who makes her home with Mr. W. H. Cramer and family, visited friends atOlean, N. Y., last week. Mrs. A. L. Wright has returned from visiting her husband, at Buffalo, where he is employed in car shops. They contemplate moving to Buffalo in the near future. Mr. Richard Murrv, of town, visited his sister, Mrs. Martin B. Epley, at Sinnamahoning, on Monday. It wns Dick's 19th anniversary and he took a day off. William Gilmsrtin, of Johnson burg, was in town on Tuesday and made the PKI->H a call, and as a result he will reul the paper during 19<>ti. Miss K.vers, of Becchwood, was a PHI-H-i visitor on S.iturda) and renew ed her father's paper for another year. Mr. Evers has been in poor health ever since h's painful accident several months ago. Thos. Morrissey is quite ill with ! stomach trouble. R. L. Mason has sold his motor cycle to F. W. Niering of St. Marys. John Ooyle is seriously ill with ty- j phoid fever, at his residence on Fourth j street Eugene Teater, is again laid up with j his leg. He has not been able to work j much for the last six months. The hardwood mill commences to cut j hardwood this week. They have a I large stack of hardwood for this sea- j son. Mrs. E. L. Mason, of Wellsville, N.i Y., returned home on Monday after a j two weeks visit with Emporium I friends. Max Balcom, who has been plerk in First National Bank, lias gone to Buf falo to take a course in a business col lege. Good boy, Max. However, thanks; may you enjoy the fine weather and fruit. An adopted son, George, of Walter Clark, died of diphtheria'laat Sunday night. Funeral took place on Monday at Sizerville—private. This makes three.'deaths from diphtheria inEmpori um this winter. Hope it may be the last. Mrs. John F. Parsons and sister, Mr. Elwell are enjoying and extended visit in Philadelphia. Miss (irace Walker of this place will play a violin solo in Miss Howard's unique entertainment, "Picturesque Song," which will be given at the New Opera House on Thursday evening, Jan. 25th. Miss Walker will also play twoobligatos with the Harmonic Quar tette, which gives the vocal numbers of "Picuresque Song." The members of the Harmonic Quar tette, who will be heard in the "Pic turesque Song" programme at the New Opera House, on January 25th, are wel known church and concert soloists of Buffalo N. Y. The churches which these singers represent are the follow ing: Sairt Paul's Cathedral, West minister Presbyterian, and Unitarian Church of our Father. Miss Howard, the deviser of "Picturesque Song," is the organistjand director at the Church of our Father.
