Miss Alice Quigley has returned home from Clarion Normal. She will toach school in Shippen this fall. Miss Marian E. Larrabee is at Phila delphia attending the summer school of the University of Pennsylvania. J. K. Jordan and family attended the funeral of Mrs. Fleming, Mrs. Jordan's mother at Lock Haven, last week. Miss Pearl McGraiu returned last Sunday from a delightful visit with h3r sister at Williamsport, for four weeks. Mrs. Frank Bentiey, nee Annie Quigley, of Williamsport, who was visiting her parents in town returned to her home. Mrs. L. A. Cowing, nee Josephine Kautz, of Watkins, N. Y., has been visiting her mother and family at this place for two weeks. Mr. and Mrs. A. P. Van Gelder are entertaining the Misses Poole, of Somerville, N. J., and Miss Poole, of Brooklyn N. Y., a jolly party of ladies. Mr. James Butcher, one of our old est subscribers and venerable citizens was a Press visitor on Monday. He remembered us in a substantial man ner. Mr. J. S. Saxton and wife, of Lock Haven, visited the former's sister, Mrs. N. J. Swart/, and family on East Filth street over the fourth. Mr. S. is Asst. Supt. of Prudential Insurance Co. E. E. Greely, of Colgrove, enjoyed an early drive to Emporium Monday morning. The gentleman, who favor ed the Press office with a call, married Miss Edna Smith, a former Emporium girl. Dr. Lewis C. Voshage, of Ashland, Pa,, stopped in Emporium on Monday to visit his sister Mrs. Fred Julian and husband. Mr. Voshage was en route for Buffalo to attend Elks convention as delegate. Mr. E. G. Coleuiau has returned from Nantucket Island, Mass., whore he passed his boyhood days. Mr. Coleman did not remain as long as he anticipated, most of his old friends having left the old scenes. A. A. McDonald went to Dußois on Tuesday to visit his daughter, Miss Sara, who was taken sick while visit ing her sister, Mrs. Branson. We are pleased to learn the young lady is better and will soon be able to accom pany her father and Mrs. Branson to Colorado, hoping a change of climate may be beneficial to her health. Mrs. Bing Hemphill met with a pain ful accident while running a sewing machine on Wednesday. While feed ing the machine a needle was driven deep into one of her fingers, the needle breaking off. Her brother Thos. got bold of the remaining piece in his teeth and pulled it out. Clifford Larrabee, the painter, was a PRESS caller yesterday. Miss Grace Walker is visiting friends at Spencer Lake. Miss Ott formerly resided here. Albert Murry has suffered severly during the past week. While white washing the Bank cellar wall some hot lime splashed into his left eye. He is better now. William Weiman, chemist with Em porium Furnace Company, had the misfortunt to get a piece of iron in one of his eyes. He went to Buffalo to have it removed. While working in her garden one day last week, Mrs. J. D. Logan pulled up a weed that proved to be poison ivy. Asa result she is having a ser ious time with her hands. Wm. S. Walker came over from Austin Tuesday evening and visited with his father and brother until yes terday afternoon. He remained here to attend the moeting of First Nation al Bank Directors. Mrs. J. H. Cole, of Keokuk, lowa, is expected to arrive in Emporium to day, to visit her parents, Mr. and Mrs. R. Warner and sisters, Mrs. Lizzie Hinkle and Mrs. Maggie Judd. Miss Anna Metzger has returned home from Lynchburg, Va., to spend the summer. She is accompanied by Miss Meta Glass, a friend, also of Lynchburg, who will enjoy our moun tain scenery. For Sale.
