Miss Elizabeth Lippman is very dangerously ill at the residence of her uncle, Mr. Andrew Gallenmiller, on Plank Road Hollow. Mrs. Don M. Larrabee of Philadel phia, is visiting in Emporium this week, guest of Mr. and Mrs. M. M Larrabee and family. Councilman John Cummings, who is doing a thriving business at the Cot tage Hotel, was a pleasant caller at the PRESS office yesterday. Miss Sarah McDonald is visiting at Dußois, guest of her sister, Mrs. D. R Branson. Miss McDonald has been spending some time in Pittsburg. Miss Eleanor Griffith, the very effi cient trained nurse from Austin, who cared for Mrs. Geo. A. Walker during her illness, returned home last Friday. Wm. Daniels and Geo. Kenworthy, experienced miners employed at Cam eron Mines, were visitors on Tuesday. Of course they read the PRESS every week. Miss Mary Mulroy, of Buffalo, N.Y., was guest of Miss Eva Yates over Sun day. This pleasant lady is a sister to Mr. James Mulroy, who is popular with our people. Mrs. Jos. Kaye, of Westtooro, Wis., passed through Emporium Saturday evening en route for Williamsport to see her mother who is very low and not expected to live. Mrs. Thos. Gallagher and Miss Mazie Gallagher, have returned from a de lightful visit with Philadelphia rela tives and friends. Mrs. Gallagher's health was greatly benefitted by the visit. Hiram 11. Haile aged 72 years, died at Buffalo last Friday. "Had" Haile was popular with the general public for many years as conductor on Buffa lo division between Emporium and Buffalo. A perfect gentleman. Mrs. John Cummings, Mrs. E. D. White, Mrs. Richard Moore, Mrs. Jas. Farrell and Mrs. D. W. Donovan en joyed a sleigh ride to Cameron yester day afternoon. They were guests of Jas. B. Hayes at the New Valley House. J. L. Wheeler, of Rural Valley, stop ped off in Emporium last Friday, while returning from New York city, to call on old friends as well as relatives. Joe still retains a favorite spot in his heart for Emporium, even if he is get ting up among the bloated bond hold ers down in Armstrong county- Of course the PIIKS< will continue to visit his home. Rant Moore and wife, of Kawlawin, Mich., arrived in Emporium this week in time for Mrs. Major Moore's funeral. Mrs. Jas. L. Norie was taken ill at Renovo, while visiting Mr. Norie's parents and is unable to return home. Quinsy. John E. Smith, of Sterling Run, while attending the Bank meeting yester day, took time to call at the PRESS office and transact business. Mrs. Knox returned yesterday from visiting at Lewistown and Altoona. Her|sister, Miss Seba Barry, of Al toona, accompanied her home. Ross Overturf and wife have return ed to Emporium, Mr. Overturf having resumed his old position with the Iron Co. Miss Mary S. Berkle, formerly man ager of Climax Powder Company, at this place, writes enclosing her draft for another year's PRESS, to be sent to her address at Pittsburg. Thanks. Mr. Alex. McDougall informs the PRESS that lie has purchased the Over hiser property, next to Taggart's drug store. He will move his store into the same in the very near future. John Bauer, the successful farmer and dairyman was a business caller at this office on Tuesday. Mr. Bauer is one of our prompt paying patrons as well as good citizens and will read his own paper another year. Mr. and Mrs. William Qeon, nee Hattie Smith, who has been visiting at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Day, left for Cleveland, 0., last Fri day morning on Erie mail. Mr. Geon is in the employ of the Marion Steam Shovel Co., of Marion, O. The PRESS received a pleasant visit from our old time friend Ralph M. Williams, of First Fork, this p. m. Mr. Williams served this county faith fully many years ago as County Com missioner. We have no better citizens than R. M. Williams. Mrs. H. J. Bryan, of Bradford, who has been a pleasant visitor to our town the past few weeks, as guest of Mr. and Mrs. Nangle and family, re turned to her home yesterday. Mrs. Bryan made many friends here and apparently enjoyed her visit, W. M. Lawler and wife, of Lewis town, Pa., visited in Emporium over Sunday, guests of Mr. and Mrs. M. C. Tulis.
