week at the annual firemen's conven

; followed by a banquet in the evening.

Republican County Convention.
The Republicans of Cameron county
met in convention at the Court House,
last Tuesday, Aug. 13th. The conven
tion was called to order by B. W.
Green, Esq., chairman of county com
mittee.
On motion the following order of
business was adopted.

Election of president and secretaries.
Election of Delegate to Republican
State Committee.
Appointment of committee on Re
solutions.
On motion Mr. S. P. Kreider, of
Driftwood, was elected President by
acclamation, and E. C. Davison, of
Emporium, and Geo. Kenworthy, of
Lumber, Secretaries. The following
delegates were enrolled as members of

approve and applaud the unsurpassed adminis
tration of President William Mclfiuley's first

his second term, and pledge ourselves to support
him and the Republican members of Congress in
the. discharge of these arduous and complex
duties which now or may hereafter confront
them. .

administration of Governor William A. Stone
merits our unqualified support and approval.
Resolved, That our Representatives in Con
gress, Hon. Matthew S. Quay, Hon. Boies Pen
rose and Hon. Joseph C. hiibley deserve our com
plete commendation for their forceful and un
faltering support of President McKinley and his
policy of administration, and also for the care
and proiupness with wnich the interests of their
constituents are given attenlionby them.
Resolved, That we record our admiration for
the successful and wise conduct of the campaign
of 19' JO in our State by State Chaimian, Gen.
1- rank Reeder and that we vote to him tor his
said services our thanks.

Primary Election rules, Mr. Josiah
Howard offered the following amend
ment to section 13-page 8-which will
come up at Convention to be held
Sept. 17th, for action:
"Amend section 13 page 8-of By-
Laws, so as to read: The time and
place for holding the Primary Elec
tions shall be advertised in at least
one Republican paper in the county,
for at least two regular issues prior to
the date for closing the filing of nomi
nation papers for delegates to the
County Convention."

DEATH'S DOINGS.
BRENMAN.
Rev. James Brennan, aged about 50
years, brother of Michael Brennan of
this place, died at Cleveland, 0., Aug.
6th, after an illness of some months.
His funeral took place last Friday at
Sharon, where he has been located for
thirteen years as pastor of the Catholic
church. Rev. Brennan is well known
in this county, having for several years
j been located at Driftwood and Dußois,
I where he has many friends, all of
| whom will be pained to learn of his
death.
Republican County Committee.
The Republican County Committee
met at Court House last Tuesday after
noon, every district in the county be
ing represented. It was decided to
call the Primary election to elect dele
gates to the County Convention on
Saturday, Sept. 14th. The Convention
to nominate Associate Judge and
County Treasurer will bo held
Tuesday, September 17th. Committee
men should be particular, note the
dates and see that each district com
plies with the rules.
