Do you know that a lady traveling alone cannot secure a room and lodg ing in any desirable hotel in New York city if she bo unfortunate enough to arrive in that city late at night? The Philadelphia Inquirer of last Sunday gives the experience of a young lady who walked the streets of New York city, until exhausted from fatigue, in a vain search for lodging, and finally fell asleep on a seat in the park. Money or personality are no help to the lady thus situated. If there is one thing above another that will cause the saintly woman to use manish expressions it is, after rising early in the morningand rubbing hard for several hours at the washboard, and when she has fastened the last piece of snowy white linen to the line, to see the line come in two and the re sult of her labor lashed through the smut of the ground. It is enough to give one the belief that old Nick had be&n standing at the line post, with knife in hand, abiding his time to tempt the poor frail creature beyond what she is able to bear. A Bradford despatch to the Buffalo Express says: "Hereafter at hotels and restaurants all over Pennsylvania, no matter whether in county, city or town, village or hamlet, the guests will no longer be given quail, wild turkey, ven ison, woodcock or pheasant to eat and if it is on the menu the proprietor of the hotel or restaurant is liable to a fine of from sls to SIOO. It is the law that the game mentioned cannot be killed for sale and even if given to a hotel man or restaurant proprietor, if he serve them as a part of any meal for which he takes money, he is liable to arrest and punishment." According to the above no person is permitted to sell or buy any of the above mentioned game, under penalty. Bradford Girl's Suicide. Nellie Reilly of Bradford, comitted suicide at Buffalo, Nov. 8. This young lady had a lover who died, and this in connection with ill health is believed to have effected her mind. She went to Buffalo and registered at a hotel as Helen Russell, of Chicago, and was given a room. The following day she was found by the hotel people. She was sitting in a chair when found and a bottle of poison had done the work. All trace of the girl's identity had been destroyed by her suicide. Rosary beads were there to show that she had prayed before she died. The fact that she wore shoes made by a Bradford firm lead to the belief that the corpse might be that of Miss Reilly. The aged mother of the girl went to Buf falo, but being old and not acute did not recognize the corpse as that of her daughter. A brother-in-law, of Elmira, N. Y., identified the body. The re mains were taken to the home of her mother at Bradford and buried on Monday. Homeseekers' Excursions.
