John Othmer has been confined to his bed for several'days, suffering with inflammatory rheumatism. Mrs S. J. Schouten has been seriously ill, at the residence of Commissioners' Clerk Housler for several days. Master Kerr Hemphill has been con fined to his home the past few days, with inflammation in the eyes. Miss Flossie Taggart, who is a stu dent at Oberlin College, Oberlin, Ohio, is home on her Easter vacation. L. C. Smart, of Renovo, (formerly a resident of Emporium) has opened a photograph studio at Cross Fork. Dr. Baker, of Williamsport, was called here Monday to see his son, Dr. A. W. Baker, who is seriously ill. Mrs. Elliott and daughter, of Wil liamsport, were guests of Geo. A. Walker and family, on Tuesday. Geo. W. Bupp transacted business at Ridgway, Kane and other points on P. & E., last Monday and Tuesday. Mrs. John Schlecht, Jr., who has been having a serious time with the grip, is much worse at this writing. Wc regret to inform our readers that Mr. P. R. Beattie is again confined to his residence and suffering terribly. Robert Green, of Emporium, was a guest of the Hotel Horton on Monday, and Tuesday.—Port Allegany Press Charles Howard, who is attending Princeton University, arrived home Wednesday morning for a week's vacation. Mrs. Harry Hemphill went to Clear field on Saturday, to visit friends and transact business pertaining to her mother's estate. W. J. Walker, of Binghamton, N. Y., is visiting his brother and family, at this place. This is Mr. Walker's first visit here in ten years. Herbert Day, the superintandent of the Elk Tanning Co.'s plant at Empo rium, was in town Tuesday on busi ness.—Ridgway Democrat. Miss Ruth Sykes, of Buffalo, N. Y., remained with her grand-parents, Geo. A. Walker and wife, at this place, while her parents attended the M. E. conference at Harrisburg. Mrs. Andrew Robinson, who resides on Tannery Hill, has been dangerously ill with erysipelas, the past week. Dr. Heilman is attending the case and she is improving. Mrs. W. C. Bowen, of Hinsdale, N. Y., visited her aunt, Mrs. M. F. Hanna, last Thursday and Friday, at this place. Mrs. Hanna has been seriously ill for some time. W. 11. Sullivan, Jno. A. Coulston and Dr. Bradford, Potter county's champion political fighters, passed through Emporium Monday evening, enroute for Harrisburg. Miss Emma Yonker who w;is called here from Johnsonburg, last Sunday night, on account of the death of her sister, is confined to her bed, at the residence of her parents, with the grip. Mrs. Almedia Taggart, of Emporium, visited his sister, Mrs. Bert, at Burt ville, last week Frank Pearsall, of Emporium, was visiting his parents in town over Sunday.—Coudersport En terprise. County Superintendent, Miss Mattie Collins, was a PRESS sanctum visitor on Monday. She is making her usual visit to the several schools of the county, after enjoying a few days visit in Philadelphia. M. J. Logue and F. L. Miller, Grove township's popular Supervisors, were transacting business in Emporium yesterday and visited the PRESS. They both read this journal and do not have to borrow their neighbors'. Mrs. J. B. Johnson left on No. 3, Wednesday morning for her homo at Colfax, Washington, after an extended visit with Emporium friends. She will stop off" at Pittsburg, Chicago and intermediate points on her way home. N. J. Schwartz, who was injured some days ago, account of whose acci dent appeared in the PRESS, has re covered and resumed his work hi Howard's mill. Mr. Auchu says he wishes he had many men as rugcrid an Mr. Schwartz. Wm. Summeraon, of Sterling Run, was a PRESS caller on Monday anu orders his paper sent to Coudersport, where lie has secured work. He ex pects to move his family there in the near future. Orlow Smith was accom panying him and also called to swap yarns. Mrs. Thos. Gallagher, Mrs. if. TI. Mullin, Miss Sylvia Mayze and Miss Maze Gallagher leave to-morrow on a visit to Philadelphia. Mrs. John Hinkle, who haa been visiting her hus band in the Quaker City for some time, expects to return home with them. John Heilman returned home from State College on Saturday, after taking a thorough course in the Dairy De partment, and is now ready to assume charge of the Emporium Creamery. We feel safe in saying that the pro duct of the Emporium Creamery this year will be better than ever as a re sult of John's trip to State College. Mrs. 11. C. Rockwell has workmen employed cleaning, painting and pap ering her drug store. She is bound to be in the procession when prosperity strikes Emporium—which cannot well piss us by.
