Eyer, the oldest minister of the Methodist Episco pal church in the Central Pennsyl vania Conference, was stricken with paralysis on Wednesday of last week, at his home on Jefferson street, and is in a critical condition. The number ot voters in Colum bia county, as indicated by the re turns of the assessors, has been re duced by seven, one hundred and forty new names having been added and one hundred and forty-seven stricken off. Trustees and members of the IIudsou-Fulton commission in charge of the recent celebration at New York city have devised a plan for a Hudson-Fulton park wherein will be a water basin in which the replicas of the Clermont and the Half Moou will be preserved. Following their threat of a week ago, four hundred students of the veterinary department of the Uni versity of Pennsylvania went on a strike because t')e vacation period did not begin soon enough to suit them. The vacation is scheduled to begin December 23 and cud Jan uary 3. Five Freshmen scholarships are awarded each year by The Penn sylvania State College to the five counties of the State showing the highest rati 3 of students attending the college to the population of the county. The State Railroad Commission, in response to a complaint made by two citizens of Bloomsburg, will investigate the condition of the Susquehanna, Bloomsburg & Ber wick Railroad. The complaint states that the service is poor, the cars dirty, and the road bad in every respect. It will be remembered that the road recently suffered from five wrecks within a week. When paper is made from corn stalks, the farmer can feed his newspapers to the cow and let bos sy digest the news for him.
