The Ha.leton base ball club de feated Normal at Hazlelon on Sat urday, by the score of 6 to 2. Fallon, who caniehere early in the spring to pitch for Normal, but left before the season opened, was in the box for Hazleton and acquitted himself very creditably. We have heard no reason for Fallon'sleaving here other than that the town was too quiet. J. R. Fowler and family will move to Shawnee Park this week, to remain for the summer. Mr. Fowler has decided not to conduct any public entertainments at the Park this season, but parties wish ing to rent it for a day or night can do so. He already has a number of picnics booked. Third street crossing Market has heretofore been a bad place for vehicles owing to the depression in the gutters. Now the street has been made level by laying three large pipes to carry the water and covering these to the street level. It is a decided improvement so far as vehicles are concerned. It remains to be seen whether the pipes are sufficient to carry off the water in a heavy rain. Another improvement that the Town is making is the laying of brick pavement at the crossings, at the same point. They are very few places with as good pavements and as clean streets as Bloomsburg. . Bicycles. New ones for $25.00 and they are worth looking at, at Mercer's Drug and Book Store. The Friendship Fire Company's base ball team's play was a genuine surprise to the Normal on Monday. They anticipated a "cinch" but barely got away with the game. The score was 3 to 2, ten innings. Had it not been for gorgeous errors by McHenry. who muffed a fly ball with two men on bases and both of whom scored, the fire lad dies would have won the game. Marcy did not play, but his absence did not weaken the team any. John Savitts did the twirling for Friendship, and his work was ex cellent. Nine of the school boys fanned the atmosphere as the result ot his clever pitching. Coffman played with the Friendships. His stick work was of the professional kind, and he gathered in every thing that came his way. . . We have a nice line of wall paper and as cheap as the cheapest, at Mercer's Drug and Book Store. IN AN AUTC MCBILE-MEPI1I3T0. Tite High Pricnd Feature with tho Robison Shows. At HioomiDurii Tuosday June 9th. Mephisto's great circling the loop act with John Robinson s Shows, iletnotistrates the fact that the man who works the longest does not get the must money. The actual work covers twelve seconds a day, six seconds at each performance. For this work of twelve seconds he re ceives sixteen dollars. The law ol supply and demand is responsible for the fxalled figure for this one atft Public interest is appeased by its per formance and John Robinson pavs the bill. This Riding the Loop" is a marvelous performance, daring in the extreme and nothing like it has ever before been conceived and exe cuted. Seated in an automobile on a little perch at the dome of the arena this dare devil performer shoots down a narrow incline at a terrihe speed The great momentum sends the auto up into and around the barrel shaped oop like a flssh, and as he shoots around this clinder his head hanging downward, while the automobile obey ing the law ot centrifugal force, clings to the surface. The reserve speed carries him into the arena from the tanpent of his curved course, where bowing and smiling the audience after a short breath holding spell ap plauds this intrepid and skilled artist to the echo, thrilled by the daring nerve of this marvelous performer.
