The injunction cases against the trolley road were heard on Wednes day before Judge Savage, of Sun bury, to whom they were certified. The case of the P. & R. R. R. Co., against the Columbia & Montour Electric Ry. Co , was continued until January 9, 1902. The case of the Catawissa & Bloorusburg Electric Ry. against same is being heard as we go to press. 1 Trade at Home. The fall and winter trade is assum ing large proportions. Bloomsburg merchants are vieing with each other in their efforts to induce the visitors and residents to make the most of the bargains to be had. The idea is that all may purchase goods at home if they will but become acquainted with what facilities Bloomsburg stores furnish. The proposition is that just as good bargains are offered by the home stores, and their complete dis plays should be thoroughly inspected and patronized. Soldier a Swindler. Man In Pretty Uniform Pleases Sevoral Lewisburg People. Francis Hoffa, of the Buffalo Mil ling company at Lewisburg, offers $500 reward for (he arrest and return to Lewisburg of one William Cook, who went there and represented him self to be a recruiting officer in the service of the United States army, sent there to open a recruiting station He is a man of about twenty-five years, splendidly built, ?nd in the uni form of a corporal made a natty ap pearance. Through the recommendation of Mr. Hoffa he obtained board at the home of Mrs. William Ream, on Seventh street,Lewisburg, and soon en listed considerable attention through out the town. He said that an as sistant officer would arrive in a few days at which time the office would be opened. Cook made several trips to Milton on the trolly cars, where he is said to have played havoc among the hearts of a bevy of young girls In Lewisburg, too, he sprang into favoritism among the susceptible young ladies who fell easy prey to the charms of his natty uniform. Friday Cook left town without pay ing his board bill. At the same time a gold watch belonging to Mr. Ream and $1.35 in money were missed Cook left on the 4:4a Pennsylvania train, having purchased a ticket for Sunbury. He had in his possession a ticket good from Sunbury to Har risburg. The rooms on the second floor of the Ream's home were tound to have been ransacked. Haines or their grantees or assigns, shall so lay and maintain their pipes, joints, connections, etc, so as not to Interfere with the pipes. J"lnts, connections, etc., of the citizens and the municipality, now having pipes, Joints, connections, etc., under the several streets, lanes and alleys of the said Borough. Seetlon 6. That the said w. R. Chapln and Charles J. Rogers and T. W. Haines or their grantees or assigns, will Indemnify and always save and keep harmless the said Borough of Orangevllle, of and from all act ons and man ner of actions for damages, arising from the laying, maintaining of pipes, Joints, connec tlons, etc., under the several streets, avenues, lanes and alleys of tno said Borough, nnd for that purpose will give the Indemnity as herein after specified. Section 7. That the said W. R. Chapln and Charles J. Rogers and T. W. Haines or their grantees or assigns, shall pay the cost ot draw ing printing, publication and posting of this Ordinance; and that before the provisions of this Ordinance shall become operative and valid and enure to the benefit of the said W. R Chapln and Charles J. Rogers and T. W. Haines or their grantees or assigns, they, the said W R. Cbnpln and Charles J. Rogers and T. W Haines or their grantees or assigns, shall first file with the Council their written acceptance of this Oidlnance, and enter Into a Bond with sureties to be approved by the Chief Burgess, to the said Borough ln tho penal sum of five thousand dollars, (irooo.00); conditioned unon the faithful performance of tne conditions of this Ordinance. Section 8. The said W. R. Chapln, Charles J Rogors and T. W. Haines, or their grintees or assigns, hereby agree to furnish water for the use of the Borough tor an annual rental not ex ceedlng seventeen dollars for each fire plug. As many of said plugs as shall be desired shall be placed in said Borough at the own proper cost and charge of the receivers ot this fran chlse, to wit: W. R. Chapln, Charles J. Rogers and T. W.
