E. church has been postponed until Jan. 6. 1901. Dr. George Edward Reed president of I)ickinson college will preach the morning sermon, and Dr. W. W. Evans, Presiding Klrier will have charge of the finances, and preach in the evening. A number of minist ers are expected to be present and speak at the platform meeting in the afternoon. A week's services is being arranged and when completed it will be given out for publication. The Ladies' Aid will hold a fair in pallors of the church 13, 14, and 15. On Thursday evening Dec. 13 they will serve a chicken and waffle supper. Thev promise an evening's enjoymen'. On Friday evening oysters in all styles will be served and lunch as well, also ice cream and all kinds of confec'ion ery. The lair will be open on Satur day afternoon and evening, oysters, lunch and hot coffee will be sold. A fine display of articles will be on sale. Come and enjoy this treat, so says Stylus. Dedication of St. James Reformed Church- The dedication ot this beautiful church which is located in Fishing creek township, Columbia county, will take place on Sunday December 30th. In connection with this event there will be three sessions: The lorenojn session will becin at 10 a. m. and will consist ot music by the choir, sermon by Rev. I). V. Ebbert D. D , an ap peal by Rev. O. H. Stnnk, and the consecration of the church. The alternoon session will begin at 2:30 p. ni., and the service will be in the form of a parliament. It will con sist of music, short addresses on sub jects pertaining to church work, and the presentation of the keys by the building committee. The evening session will begin at 7 p. m., and will be in the form of a C. E. service, with short addresses by the ministers present. The following ministers have been invited to be present: Rev. A. H. Ilerbst of Wapwallopen, Rev. J. V. Reinecke of St. John's church, But ler Valley; Rev. G. E. Limbert of Dan ville, Rev J. D. Thomas, Ph. D., of Bloomsburg; Rev. D. W. Ebbert, D. D., of Milton and Rev. O. H. Stiunk of Schuylkill Haven. All are invited. A. Houtz, Pastor. Normal Excursion to Washington. The Annual Excursion of the Nor mal School to Washington, D. C, will stare next Monday, December 17th, on the Reading Railroad, and will return on Friday. The cost of the trip will be $14.00. This embraces all necessary ex penses, including railroad fare (special train), hotel charges (three meals per diy at first class hotel), fees of guide at Capitol and elsewhere, and trans portation of baggage between the hotel and railroad station. It also includes the expense of a trip to Mt. Vernor, Alexandria and Arlington, with ad mission to the grounds at each place. The return will be by the way of Philadelphia, and the above named sum includes cost of dinner on that day in the Reading Terminal Dining Rooms of the Phila. & Reading Rail road Company. After dinner the time, until 3:30 p. m , will be spent in visiting the Mint, the Old Stale House, and other objects of historic interest. The train will leave Pnila delphia (Reading Terminal Station), 3:30 p. m., Friday, and will make a brief stop at Valley Forge, famous as Washington's Head-quarters during tnt: Revolutionary War, after which it will -proceed to Bloomsburg, where it will airive about 9 p. m. Dr. Welsh will be assisted in the conduct of the party by members of the faculty who have visited Washing ton before and who are well-informed in regard to all places to be visited. IThe excursionists will be divided into groups of twenty-five or thirty each, so that all can get the full explan ations of the teachers and guides, and this total number is to be limited to r5o persons. The excursion will be open to students, graduates, and former and prospective students of the school. A limited number of special friends may also be admitted. The striking of the new clock in the tower of the Normal Auditorium can be plainly heard in every part of town. The regular term recital by the music pupils of the Normal School will be given in the AnditoJiuin Saturday evening at eight o'clock. The land below Berwick which formerly constituted the fair grounds has been laid out in building lots, and is now being offered lor sale. Christmas is the next important stopping place for amusement and good cheer. Many are preparing for the event. Mrs. M. A. Watson has a large line of fall hats including the latest styles. Mrs. George Dirk died at her home near Talmar, Friday of last week, aged about twenty-six years. A husband and an infant son survive. The Y. M. C. A. Glee Ciub con cert at Normal Hall last Thursday evening was an enjoyable affair.and highly spoken of by persons in at tendance. Mrs. Gilbert's singing was the leading feature, and the solos by R. F. Colley, O. II. Yetter and Dr. Aldinger were also very good. The other parts of the program- were well carried out. At the closing session cf the Teachers' Institute last week, an effort was made to have the meeting held at Berwick next year. In order that the matter might be amicably settled, Superintendent M l'cr sub mitted it to a vote of the institute. Bloomsburg was the choice, the count being1 148 to 84 for Berwick.
