Sands, of Bowling Green. Ohio, is lying in a critical condition, at Crace Hospital, De troit, Michigan, where she under went a surgical operation. Her brother-in-law, Fx - Commissioner C. L. Sands, of Mordausville, re ceived word Monday that there were no hopes of her re:overy. Joseph II. Sands died last January. On last Fridav evening the A. & T. Biograph Co., of Bloomsburg, gave a very fine exhibition of many pictures in the M. K. Church, to a large audience, and barring some delays in working of the machine they were well received by those present. The pictures from the famous "Passion Play" were of the finest order. Mr. D. J. Tasker sang two popular songs illustrated by pictures thrown upon the canvass. He received great applause after each of his songs. Mr. Tasker's singing was a feature of the enter tainment. This was the first exhi bition by this company, and as their pictures are the best and latest, there is no doubt but what their venture will be a successful one. At the morning service, in Christ German Church, Ilazleton, Thanks giving morning, Rev. Schlenker delivered a sermon against football. He characterized the game as the devil's sport, end said that the young men and patrons of the game were simply the devil's ser vants. The sermon caused great consternation among his hearers. Hess of Mifflinville, was takeii suddenly with spinal meningitis, on East street last evening about seven o'clock. The horse was purchased by Mr. Hess at the Weaver horse sale at Mon toursville a few months ago at a cost of $300. McLinu was called to Charlotte, North Carolina, by the illness of his daughter Miss Ruth and left here last Sunday night. Mr. F. C. Miss Ruth has had typhoid fever for the past six weeks, and her mother has been with her. Mr. Mc Linn was also there, but as sha seemed to be improving he came home about two week ago.
