Found, it it Said, In Paying Quantities at the north mountain. The many discoveries of gold and other precious mineral herebouts late ly have robbed occurrences ot this na ture of the usual excitement. The latest is the finding of gold, in paying quantities at or near Jamison City. The discovery was made by William Taylor, proprietor of a bottling estab lishment of this town, who claims to have known of the existence ot the metal for a number of years past. It appears that Taylor has made several trips up to the land, and he in com pany with two other persons, M athew and Jack Forbes, residents of Jamison City, have gone over the tract, which contains about iooo acres. They are satisfied that the strike is a rich one and their belief is strengthened by the receipt of an assay of a quantity of the ore which Taylor had sent to Den ver to be tested. The three men in question had de cided two years ago to form a com pany, and begin operations, but none of them had any knowledge of the business, and so Jack Forbes was sent out west, where he has been employ ed in the silver mines. He returned home this week, possessing, so we are informed, all the necessary knowledge to carry on the business. A smelting plant is to be erected at once. We will give a further account of the mat ter later.
