An appeal has been taken out by the plaintiff in the damage suit of Martha and William Case vs. the Delaware, Lackawanna & Western Railroad Company. It will be taken to the Supreme Court, which sits for the Eastern District of Penn sylvania in Philadelphia next month. The suit was tried twice in the Col umbia County Courts. The first trial resulted in a verdict of $8,000 for the plaintiffs, and the second, in a verdict for the Company. "Shorty" Wetzell, lormerly a well known ball player, of Belle- fonte, and who played last year with the Toledo inter-state team, died in a Dayton hospital a few days ago of heart disease. De ceased was 31 years old, and was born in Morris Run, Tioga county. Loci Haven Democrat. "Shorty" was well known 111 town. He played with the Dan ville State League team a few years ago, and also with several other towns hereabouts. He was a nat ural ball player : could hold down third base in faultless style, and on more than one occasion, was a fac tor in Bloomsburg's defeat, by rea son of his fast fielding and good batting. White, while giving his, the greatest of all ' ' Faust productions, at the Au ditorium in St. Louis, Mo., two seasons ago It happened that one of the stage hands had opened a trap door of the stage between the second and third acts to procure a necessary piece of scenery. Mr. White, in crossing the stage at that time, and not noticing the removal of the door, stepped into it, and only saved himself from falling through by grasping one of the in sulated electric wires, which so thickly cover the stage floor.
