First Proseci'tion at Roatliprj Unilortlie Com pulsory School Law. The fust case under the compulsory school law in Reading wis decided by Alderman Vamel. It was against Kd ward C. Hammer, a clerk, who was charged with keeping his two children, aeil 8 and 1 1 years, out of School. The fathers defence was that the child ren are in delicate health. The Alderman decided to fine the father $2 for each child and also im posed the costs, amounting to $4 99 in each case. Upon being informed of the decision Attorney Flood announced his determination of taking an appeal to court, giving as one of the reasons that the law under which the action was brought is unconstitutional. Knows Keely's SecTet. Joseph Repetti, an expert Vineland machinist and inventor, claims to be the only living man in possession of the Keely motor secret. The secret, he says, did not die with Keely. Rep etti believes himself to be the only person to whom Keely ever showed his complete motor, and as he took an oath never to divulge the secret, he has not yet convinced himself that his obligation was dissolved through Mr. Keely's death. Repetti is a Mason, of excellent standing in the local lodge, ami a highly respected citizen, whose varaci ty and capabilities are well known in Vineland.
