J. O. Wir.so.v, Contractor and

thus speaks of Ayor'a Pills :
" Ayer's Tills are tlio best medicine I
tver tried; and, In my judgment, no
better general remedy could be devised.
I bare used them In my family and
recommended them to my friends and
employes for more tlmn twenty years.
To my certain knowledge., many cases

completely and
Permanently Cured
by the use of Ajcr'a rills alone: Third

Ayer's Tills plve better satisfaction
than nny other Pill I ever sold." J. J.

A Boston Fire.
On the afternoon of the 15th inst,
Boston was swept by a fire extending
over about twelve acres of ground.
It was started on the base-bah grounds
by some little boys who playfully
kindled a little fire in some shavings.
Though 3,500 people were on the
grounds at the time, yet somehow the
fire was not put out punctually m the
beginning. The little blaze started
for amusement by the little boys and
regarded indifferently by the sportful
spectators more interested in base
ball, became a matter of serious con
cern when it was too late to subdue or
control it. The loss is variously esti
mated at from $300,000 to $i,ooo, oco.
Instead of whipping into good be
haviour in public schools, as we well
remember was once the custom,
prizes are now frequently offered by
teachers, and with better effect upon
many pupils than the whip. This too
frequently carried the fight among
parents too apt to side with their
children whether discipline prevailed
in school or not. Accordingly, for
whispering least during his term as a
teacher at New Columbus, Mr. Frank
Bowman has awarded Leroy Jamison
a prize of a handsome Wirt pen.

DEPARTED THIS LIFE.
The death of Mrs. Anna Miller, on
Saturday morning, May 12th, com
ing as it did, so suddenly, startled
our whole neighborhood. Mrs. Miller
enjoyed the confidence and friend
ship of all who knew her. Asa mem
ber of the Lutheran church she was
faithful and consistent. Her kindness
to the poor and needy was a strong
characteristic of her life. A very
large congregation assembled at the
Hidlay Church to attend her funeral.
The services were conducted by Rev.
K. A. Sharretts, assisted by Rev. A.
j Houtz of the Reformed church. Her
age was C6 years, 3 months and 1 day.

The products of this mill are well
known all through this section. R. R.
Ikeler, who has leased it for a year,
is doing a fine trade, and the hum of
industry is heard around the prem
ises. Mr. Ikeler is assisted in the mill
by George Dreisbach and son, and
others.
T. F. Anthony, Ex-Postmaster of
Promise City, Iowa, says : "I bought
one bottle of 'Mystic Cure,' for Rheu

more good than any medicine I ever
took." Sold by C. A. Kleim, Drug
