On last Thursday night the Town Council met in regular session. i resent, President Drinker and members Knorr, Yost, Wilson and Sterling. Petition presented by C. W. Funs- ton, asking for cobble stone gutters on 1'irst street, between Centre and Mar ket. Request granted on motion of Wilson and Yost. Council was asked by Nathan Fow ler to furnish sewer pipe, and he would agree to put the same in at his own expense, to connect with his house in rear of Catharine street. The matter was referred to Committee on Highways. Prof. Albert inquired after the grading of East Second street. It was decided that the matter should have immediate attention. John Wolf asked for his order for damage in opening East Fifth street. Michael Casey asked to have Pine street graded. Referred to Committee on IIighwa)S. The Committee on Light reported that the arc light on 7th and Catharine streets is not necessary. Report ac cepted. Committee on Sewers was contin ued. Committee on Highways report not ready to settle pavement and grade on Market street below D. L. & W. rail road. Council discussed matter of chang ing width of pavement from 6 to 4 feet on East 3d street. Left as before decided, 6 feet. President presented request of butcher Reice to have Council pass a lav requiring license to retail meat in town. No action. The following named persons were granted permits to build : Fred Holmes, house on West street ; Wm. Hutton, house on North Iron street. The tax rate was fixed at 9 mills by unanimous vote of Council.
