What are we Coining to ? We take the case of the Italian up the creek. His daughter came home late, she lied viciously about a harm less old man passing her along the road and s'apping her. Thereupon the Italian father pursues the man with murder in his heart; seizes his cane from him and beats him almost into insensibility and breaking one of his legs. The poor old man crawls to a neighbor's house and i3 taken in. There he stays for weeks. That house was turned into a hospital and the family the attendants. That man to day is on the township, crippled for life, and that Italian is scott fieeto roam the world nt large. It might have been any body else passing along the road that would have been so nearly murdered and crippled for life. Now, then, we have hundreds and thousands of just such criminals not only from Italy, but from the other countries of old Europe, and our millionaires have been importing them by the hundreds of thousands to sup plant American labor, to create more millionaires ami multimillionaires, create poor houses, penitentiaries, prisons, hospitals, to be erect -d and supported byenonnous taxation, and very man is thus roWicd of employ ment, compelled to pay tax. The columns of our papers teeming wiih the accounts of rape and - murder, robbery and incendiarism. Society in danger, so that one cannot venture in the dark withot't apprehending an sssassin before or behind him, or that iiis home will be pillaged, or his outer buildings burned before morning. Well, this is g'orious America, in deed, safe America, prosperous America a vast Republic ot enlight ened, progressive, prosperous citizens: and all brought about bp a horde of millionaires who have grown rich by the robbery and enslavement of the people and the introduction of the scum of Europe. Now, then, who are the curse to the country if it is not Jthese monied tyrants? Will some one I rise to explain? And we are going from bad to worse ? An army of the starving laboring classes on their way lo Washington to get some hope and help and keep themselves and families from absolute starvation, while the multi millionaires are becoming as thick as hair on the outside, of a dog. And this is a glorious country, with its ferlib valleys, towering mountains, grand rivers, salubrious climate, min eral resources, freedom, freedom, freedom to starve to death in f'.rst class style and on general principles. I say let us go on to glory ; let hospitals, prisons, pemtcntarie. and poor houses rear their lofty columns and colonnades in sublimity. Spread them out everywhere throughout our broad land as monuments of our architecture, the wonderful progress of the nation, and of a great and free people. We can eclipse the archi tecture of Rome and not half try; and then crowd these proud edifices with paupers and crimimals brought here by the nation's hospitality and the millionaire's instrumentality. Hurrah for America, hurrah fur freedom, hurrah for the millionaire's ; but let the hard working classes go where they please to got something to eat. Read all the advertisements of spring medicines, and then take Ayer's Sarsaparilla. Advertising That Fuid It has been asked, "'Does advertis ing pay?" A German journal, the Mainzer Nachrichten, replies to this question by giving the following fact, the authenticity of which it guaran tees: A person advertised that he would pay five marks to the sender of the largest potato. In less than fifteen days the clever advertiser found him self in possession of as many sacks full of the very finest pota.oes, which, after paying the five marks for the largest examp'e, might be reckoned a very prolitable speculation. A Buy's xlzporience. "A few months ago my face and neck were covered with boils and car buncles and I had a tired feeling. I tried several different kinds of medi tines but they had no effect until I got Hood's Sarsaparilla When I had taken the second bottle the boils be gan to heal and the tired feeling was gone."
