Our attention wan called to this latter fact on Wednesday, when we were called out of bed at three o'clock in the morn ing to catch a belated train on the Le high Valley Railroad. The Lehigh Valley Company exper ience some difficulty in securing engi neers for the run between Coxton and Mauch Chunk. They report having encountered obstructions on the track and large stones being thrown through the cab windows. The engineers are asking for guards to accompany them. Rev. Dr. Robert McKay, for eight months pastor of the Eighteenth street Methodist Church, Philadelphia, has sent to Presiding Elder T. B. N cely his resignation a a minister in the Methodist Church. Rev. Dr. Mc Kay's withdrawal from the church is due to his change ot belief, which has induced him to accept the tenets of the Protestant Episcopal Church. Dr. McKay announced his change of faith and the resignation of his pas torate to the congregation after ser vices or. Sunday evening. The con gregation, although taken by surprise, adopted a series of resolutions ex pressive of 'heir personal regard for Dr- McKay. A writer on scientific subjects con tends that our climatic changes be come more pronounced each year. A decade ago November brought ice and snow, but of recent years we do not expect a general freeze-up until Christmas or later. In olden times October here 111 the North was chilly, and oftentimes bleak and cold, but the October just past rivals any month of the year for delightful temperature and beautiful skies.
