FRIDAY, NOVEMBKR 10, 1893. A KEMINDER. It is a long time aincc we have said anything about unpaid subscriptions, but when our books show thousands of dollars outstanding that we ought to hare, and need constantly in our business, it is pardonable if we use these columns occasionally to remind those who owe us, that a newspaper cannot be published on wind. There are some who owe for three years or more, and who pay no attention to statements sent by mail. To such, notice is now given that their accounts must be settled before January 1st. If not paid by that time, they will be charged $1.50 a year, and costs may be made. AH who owe for one, two or three years are respectfully request ed to call and settle, at $1.00 a year. After an account is three years old it is liable to be charged at the rate of $1.50 a year, as that is the price when not paid in advance. We, are com pelled to give this notice because of the large sums due us that are scat tered all over the county, and as there is certainly nothing unreasonable in the request, we trust that it will meet with a cheerful response. Halloween passed off quietly as usual in this law abiding community, but no doubt a great many of the su perstitious who belong to the weaker sex meditated, and revolved those se cret charms, which The Columbian unearthed as belonging to that occa sion, in their minds so much that they finally resolved to prove to themselves the veracity of the statement. Never fear,, though for they'll never tell and we all believe the Columbian every time, even though it may be as hard to believe as the ministers text after the boys had glued two leaves of the bible together and it read : "Noah took to himself a wife, who was a hun dred and thirty cubits long and forty cubits wide, and made entirely of go pher wood, and pitched within and without." The preacher said he had never seen it that way before, but must be true or it would'nt be here, It is an evidence of the assertion in another portion of the bible that man is fearfully and wonderfully made.
