The stockholders of the Jamesburg Bank, which was victimized to the extent of $50,000 by T. Wilton HIU, deceased, decided yesterday to pay fifty per cent of the $15,000 assessment levied to make good the shortage. The balance they agreed to make good to day, which will restore the capital stock to $73,000 and permit the bank to resume on a solid basis. Dr. Applegate, the physician who attended Hill, gave a certificate that the cashier's death was from naturul causes, and has made affidavit that the certificate was true. This has put a stop to the rumor that Hill com. mltted suicide by taking poison, and the body will not be exhumed. " Hill died from remorse and worrl ment over his affairs," the doctor said. Cal Mc Carthy, of Jersey City, and Tom Cal laghan fought one ot the best contests witnessed hero for some time last night Tho fight took place before the Olympic Club, in the presence ol 3,000 people. In the fourteenth round McCarthy was declared the winner. The match was for a purse of 12,000. It was entered into by the men with the idea of bringing off a match be tween Oeorge Dixon and the victor. The winner will now be matched with Oeorge Dixon for the world's championship. The battle will likely take place In the Olymplo Club arena some time next October. The purse will be $5,000 and a side bet of $6,000. Arrested fbr Shooting Her Daughter. Atlantic Citt, Feb. 2. Mrs. Emma Warrick, who on Thursday night last shot her nineteen-vear-old daughter, Laura, in their home at this place, was arrested yesterday by order of Troseoutor Thompson on a charge of assault with intent to kill. It was at first supposed that Mrs. Warrick was insane. The ball struck the girl In the face near the nose, and has not been ex tracted. The wound is not likely to prove fatal, but the girl Is In danger of losing the sight of both eyes. Mrs. Warrick has been In 111 health for several months. Jersey City. N. J., Jan 27. Supreme Court Justice Knapp, of New Jersey, was seized with a fit of apoplexy while on the bonch in this city yester day afternoon and died within a few minutes. At the time of his death he was scoring the graud jury for its failure to indict Sigfreld Cronheim of Uobok en for persistent violation of tho Sun day laws. Manning M. Knapp wus born in Bergen county in 1823. He graduated from Kutgors College nnd was ad mitted to the bar in 1810. In 1850 ho was mado a counselor at law.
