Recent experiments have proved it
practicable to make a rosebush yield |
roses of any color desired. :
It must, however, be a bush that
would normally bear white roses.
Then it is merely a question of water-
ing the soil with a very dilute solu- |
tion of one chemical or another.
Potash will cause the bush to pro-
duce green roses; alum will give them
a lilac hue, and muriatic acid will turn
them red. By like means the long-
sought blue rose has been obtained;
but the chemical employed in this
case is a secret.
The same method, with like results,
can be applied to white hydrangeas
and other white flowers. i
