The forty-first annual session of the Cen- tral Pennsylvania Methodist Episcopal conference came toa close at Tyrone on Tuesday morning with the announcement of the appointments by Bishop McDowell. The session throughout was one of excep- tional interest, the reports of the various presiding elders, pastors and committees showing a year of unusual financial as well as spiritual sucess. Unlike last yesr when the conference bad to go-a-begging for a place to meet this year, invitations were ex. tended from three places, York, Harrisburg and Clearfield, to the conference to meet there next year, and by an almost unani- mous vote York was chosen. When it came to the matter of the ap- pointments very few changes were made in what are. considered the larger churches aod appointments, owing no doubt to the fact that there were so many changes last year. Rev. Stein was sent back to Belle- fonte and most all the ministers who have served as pastors of the Bellefonte church were retarned to the same church they served last year. In the matter of the presiding elders no change was made in the whole conference. The appointments for the Altoona distrios follows: Presiding Elder, Benjamia C. Conner, 1216 17th vi Itoona. Clark for passing worth- less checks, which were drawn on the Farmers and Merchants National bank, of Tyrone, and gave it that the man at one time made his home in Bellefonte. In this the papers were in error. The Clark in question is a New Eoglander by birth. He came to this section of the State several years ago claiming to bave acquired some coal lands in Clearfield county. Later he went to California and was in that State at the time of the earthquake. He then came east and located in Tyrone and some months ago he appeared in Bellefonte and wanted $0 sell stock in the Central Coal and Coke company, which he said he was organizing to operate on his own lands in Clearfield county. Not meeting with any success bere he left the town and that is the only connection the man ever had with Belle- fonte.
