Howard Grove and family, of Milesburg, spent Monday at the parental home. Mrs. Margaret Harpster, of Niagara Falls, spent a few days of last week among old friends here. Miss Marshall, an aged lady of Bellefonte, spent Friday with her niece, Mrs. D. H. Shivery. Among those on the sick list are Maude Corman, Fred Heckman and William Tressler. Miss Rhoda Dillen, who bas been visiting friends here for the last four weeks, returned to her home at Julian Monday. Mr. and Mrs. Enoch Hastings, of Jersey Shore; Mr. and Mrs. Gray Hastings, of Oak Grove, and Mrs. Bruce Lingle, cf Milesburg, are visiting at the home of Geo. Hastings. Spring Mills. The weather during the forepart of the week reminded us very forcibly that winter is here in earnest. Thanksgiving day passed away here about as usual. Quite a number of dinner parties were given and enjoyment seemed to rule the day. The revival in the Evangelical church still continues and the converts have become quite numerous. Rev. Haney, the pastor, is evi- dently doing good work. Butchering is in full operation now, but singular to say that up to this date no very heavy porkers have been reported—350 to 400 1bs. seems to be the average. Our hunters here have concluded that their efforts to surpass all previous seasons, and the exposure and labor to secure what little game they did get hardly paid for the trouble. We had quite a number of visitors here during the past week. Among them were Duncan Runkle and his two sons, ‘of Shamo- kin, and John Forster,of Tyrone, all former- ly of this village. Ivy Bartges has sold his Fairview farm below Centre Hill to P. D. Brishin and Frank Bradford, the zonsideration being $6,500. The farm is beautifully located and in a high state of cultivation. Mr. Bartges spared neither expense nor labor to make it a model farm and the fruit it produced this year was very abundant and of a high grade. If the object is fruit, the above gentlemen made no mistake in their purchase. Mr. Bartges contemplates going West in the spring. GREGG Post INSPECTION. — Tomorrow night will be the time for the regular in- spection of Gregg Post, No. 95, and for that event the commander has issued the fol- lowing notice : HEADQUARTERS GREGG Post, No. 95, } DEPARTMENT OF PA, G. A. R. Attention, Comrades : The regular yearly inspection of the Post will be held at the next meeting of the Post, Deceniber 9th, 1905. Comrade Austin Curtin, of Post 261, has been appointed in- spector. A full attendance is requested. F. P. GREEN, W. H. MUSSER, Adjutant. Commander. Letter to Col. Jas. P. Coburn, of Belle- fonte, Pa. . Dear Sir : Mr. N. Avery, Delhi, N. Y,, had two houses exactly alike, and painted them : one Devoe lead-and-zine ; the other barytes-and-zinc. He paid same price for both paints. He used six gallons of lead-and-zinec, 12 gallons barytes-and-zinc. He paid $18 for painting lead-and-zing, $36 for painting barytes-and zine. The total cost of the lead-and-zinc job was $27 ; the total cost of the barytes-and- zine job was $54. He didn’t know he was buying barytes ; the dealer told him that paint was as good as Devoe. A fair example of bow it generally comes out, when you buy ‘‘something just as good.’’ Better go by the name : the name ; and the name is Devoe. Yours truiy, F. W. DEvoE & Co., New York.
