Spring Mills. D. A. Ruhl, our accommodating landlord, is doing an excellent business this spring. Very few candidates have been circulating in our neighborhood of late. What is the mat- ter, are they all sailing close to the shore ? As soon as the weather becomes settled, postmaster J. D. Long intends erecting a fine residence on the main road leading to the railroad station. After a number of delays the Spring Mills planing mill company have their main build- ing under roof with sufficient machinery to commence business this week. Garden making is now in progress. Of course some folks are rather dubious and ap- prehensive of a visit from Jack Frost, but a visit from Jack at this late day can hardly be expected. Still doubtful things are very uncertain. The high school in our Academy building, a special session of ten weeks for advanced scholars, under the instruction of that ac- complished teacher Dr. D. M. Wolfe, has an attendance of over fifty pupils. The in- structions, studies and discipline in the school during this special session is of such a character that it might be said to rank with a college. Resolutions of Respect.
