William Kessinger has been appointed game warden for the Nittany rod and gun club. Emanuel Markle. of Bellefonte, spent several daysin the woods around here en- joying the hunting season. Geo. Kessinger had the misfortune of losing three of his fingers, while greasing a threshing machine recently. The Reformed congregation of this place organized a sabbath school, Sunday Oct. 17th with an enrollment of ninety-two members. Rev. Runkle preached a very eloquent ser- mon last Sunday. The topic on which he based his discourse was, Sunday school. Mr. and Mrs. Ed. L. Bergstresser, of this place, left on the 4:14 train for Renovo, Pa., to attend the funeral of their sister-in-law, Mrs. Stewart Bergstresser. The Nittany rod and gun club have sens their quail to this place, for the purpose of distributing them among the leased farms. 600 of them were set loose on Tuesday and the balance of the 3000 will be put out just as soon as they arrive. The fifteenth day of Oct., 1897, was a day long to be remembered: by the nimrods of Nittany Valley. From Bellefonte and Lock Haven and intermediate points they gathered to the vicinity of Hublersburg, and by day break the bombarding began, and by six o’clock p. m., they began to pull for home with their game, which consisted of gray and red squirrels, pheasants and wild turkeys. ——————————————————————————————— Montgomery & Co.
