Republican Victory In Indianapolis. The President received a despatch from Senator Morton to-day, stating that Mr. Mc Cauley, Republican, had been elected Mayor of Indianapolis by one thousand majority. Condition et the Steamer Tcnuessee. A board appointed by the Secretary of the N tyy to examine and report upon the condition of the United States steamer Tennessee en her late trip to Saa Domingo, have submitted a re port, .in which they state that the materials of which the Tennessee was constructed were of the very best quality, and say the frame, being of live oak, makes her superior to all other vessels of her elass except the Florida, which is identi cal In construction with the Tennessee. A thorough examination has proved conclu sively that great pains were taken to give the greatest possible strength to every part of the Tennessee. A comparison of her displacement with her Internal capacity indicates that as re gards safety no more capable vessel of the navy In this respect could have been selected for the service in which she was engaged, aud none that would have afforded the same space for comfort without intruding upon the quarters of the oill ce r a and crew. The surface of the principal sails was aug mented nearly one-third. This increase has added much to her eflicieucy uudjr ciuva, aud given her power to act with safety in all weathers. Iler equipment in all dopirtmonts was full and complete for all purposes. The report goes on to show that the vessol was amply furnished with all the appliances necessary to extinguish fires, haying thirty-one delivering nozzles aud 1150 feet of hoie, and to free the bilges she had six bllo-pujiijs besides. These were worked by steam. The board fiually determined th;it the Touuo see evinced no 6igns of unseaworthiness and proved in all respects as staunch and perfectly safe a vessel tor the duty assigned her as ever floated, and that she was alio better adapted for this service than any other vessel in the navy. The report Is signed b7 all the members of the board. FROM Tint wnsr. I ET ASSOCIATED TltUSS. Exclwtively to The Koeninq Tslyaph. lmiiurtuut HuHlneaa Movemeut. St. Louis, May b.
