THE DAILY EVENING TELEGRAPH PHIL APE L PHI A, WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER .23, 1870. 5 hijbical Ann dran4tic. The MnrrlRS f Pla-ar" t the Bagllsta TrtM The furions rain-storm canted the finest wrk la the repertoirt ot the company now perform ing at the Academy of Musio to be nn last evening to the 101411681 audience of the season. Those who did attend, however, enjoyed a rare treat, for the mnsic of The Marriaj of Figaro Is so purely delicious that It would be a plea sure to hear it even if not rendered by the most thoroughly competent artists. The performance at the Academy last evening, however, was np to a high rank of excellence, as was to be ex pected, for the leading characters were bus tailed by the same singers as last season, with the exception that Mrs. liernard personated "Su sanna" instead of M'me Kosa, and Mr. Bowler "Dob Baaeilio" Instead of Mr. Nordblom. Mrs. Bernard made a very excellent representative of "Susanna," nnd In the beautiful "Letter Duet" ((specially she sang with much expression. Miss Ilersee, as the "Countess," acted and sang charmingly, and Mrs. 8eguln, as the page "Cherubino," filled the ideal of the character completely. Mr. Laurence as "Count Alma viva," Mr. Campbell as "Figaro," and the other performers acquitted themselves creditably, and as the choruses were well sung and the orches tration nnusiialljr good the entertainment was one worth braving the rain storm to witness.
