It isn't because I am going to the State Prison, it is because God is wiih me, and Jesus, my dear Saviour! Good-by, my dear mother. Your affectionate son, Gbokoe D. Cart. On the next day Cary wrote the following let ter to the citizens of Syracuse Onondaga County Penitentiary-, Nov. 12, 1870. To the Citizens of Syracuse: I thank you a thousand times for the kindness you have done for me, and saved me from the gal lows. You have given me time to repent before my God of all the sins I ever done. I was a poor, drunken, penniless murderer before my God, and now I nave time to repent, and I will make good use of It. I will not idle my time away in sinful thought, and wheu I go to State Prison,. there I will try to serve tbo rules of the prison and uiy God, until he calls mo away, and then I hope I will be ready to meet him and all of my kind friends that have saved me from that dreadful fate that was before me and close at hand. I will think of what you have done for me on the 25th of this month. When that hour comes, then I can say to-day would have been my lost day on earth if it had not been for them kind hearts that felt for me and saved me from it. A (iKK.vT i.kai. has been said this season about Kid Gloves, in regard to scarcity and consequent ad vanced prices. Many houses advanced their prices to extravagance, while others made but little ad vance, If any ; and among tbe latter class we might mention the most prominent Kid Glove house in this city, the Messrs. A. & J. B. Bartholomew, of the Great KM Ulooe Emporium, No. 21 N. Eighth street. This enterprising drin, on the rumors of European war, duplicated their large orders with the manu facturers of their unrivalled "Hartley" and cele brated "La Belle" Kid Qloves at a.Ui pnV. There fore the Messrs. Bartholomew can now show the largest stock and the greatest variety of shades and colors of any house in this city or lu the United Kates, as their stock comprises forty-five different assortments, containing 877 different Rhodes and colors, and at prices within the range of all. As above stated, many houses advauced their prices to extravagance, while the Messrs. Bartholomew held theirs firm at a more moderate price, and have made sueh rapid progress that many others have had to reduce prices to have aiy claim on the publlo pa tronage. Therefore wt would recommend our readers to give the Grtat Kid OW Xmporium a call before purchasing elsewhere. They will next week receive a ease of two and three buttoned Gloves, opera shades and white. China at Auction.
