Williams, a teacher in a mnsic achooi, has been committed by Alderman Kerr to answer the charge of open lewdness. The alarm of fire abont half-pant 10 o'clock last Bight was caused by the bnrning of a stable and blacksmith shop on Beach street, below Laurel. The residence No. 1.10 North Fifteenth street, occupied by A. F. Blair, was entered on Saturday night, and robbed of a lot of clothing and silverware. Last evening the house at the corner of Fifteenth and Cuthbert streets, occupied by Mr. Hurley, was entered and robbed of a lot f silver coin, a dozen of silver spoons, and two overcoats. Daniel McOarvey and Edward Reagan have been committed by Alderman Becker to answer the charge of house robbery. They were caught in the residence of Mr. II. Gra ham, Arch (street, above Eighteenth, on Saturday sight. On Saturday morning, between throe and four o'clock, a disgraceful street fight took place in the vicinity of Ninth and llaoe streets, during which several men and women were severely injured about the head and body. Several arrests were made. An unknown white man, who was taken to the Fourth District Station House from Fourth and ltace streets, on Saturday lost, died in the cell yesterday morning, lie was dressed in dark clothes, oloth undershirt and low shoes, and hod black hair and whiskers. He was very much intoxicated when found in the street. On Saturday evening a man named James Farks was caught in the residence of Mr. Henry Meyers, corner of Clement and Car penter streets. Before submitting to a cap ture he discharged four shots from a revolver at Mr. Meyers, three of which took effect in his arm. A lot of burglars' tools were found in the possession of Forks. He has boen committed for trial. An inquest was held yesterday by Coroner Taylor upon the body of Michael Hinchey, aged fifty years, who fell down stairs at No. 1121 Christian street on Saturday. He died in a few minutes thereafter from the injuries received. Verdict in accordance with the facts. Also, upon the remains of John Schrenn, aged fifty-two years, who died at No. 1314 S. Third street, from want of medi cal attendance. In the cose of Feter MoCarney, the jury has tendered the following verdict: "That the said Peter McCarney came to his death from injuries received while attempting to commit an assault upon his wife in the apartments of Thomas Guttridge, at No. 201 Manship street, February 0, 1870. From the conflicting testimony the jury are unable to decide whether death was tie result of vio lence or a fall down the stairway." A meeting of the friends of the American Tract Society was held last evening, in the First Presbyterian Church, corner of Wosh iagton Square and Seventh street, llev. Her rick Johnson pastor. There was a large con gregation present. The object of the meet ing was to hear the interesting statements of personal observations of several gentlemen of the American Tract Society during their recent extended tour to inaugurate the society's work on the Pacific coast. About one o'clock yesterday morning, while Lieutenant Gurke and Sergeant Lynch, of the Sixth Police District, and a man named Lovett, were in Alaska (formerly Bedford) street, near Seventh, on professional business, a man was observed climbing into a ground floor window of a house. When asked what he was doing there, he replied, "None of your business." Lynch arrested him, and ordered the arrest of ten others who were standing by. Mr. Lovett attempted to carry out the order, when the man he took hold of resisted, and a fight ensued between them. At the same moment a gang of from fifteen to twenty men suddenly appeared and attacked the officers. Sergeant Lynch drew his revolver, but in at tempting to fire his thumb was caught be tween the cock ana tne Darrei oi ins weapon. His hand was seized and held in that position while he was beaten about the head, and an attempt made to cut him in the throat, but he escaped with a stab through the ear.
