The success of the Peace Jubilee lu Boston has en couraged the gentlemen Interested In It to propose a national musical organization, and to that end the following card has been Issued : Boston, June 20. The unparalleled enthusiast witnessed in connection with our late National I'eace lulillee, has afforded new ami convincing evidence to the latent musical sentiment of the unerlcau people, and rekindled tuo duaire, already Img cherished, that tt lib on Id have fitting develop ment and expression. It Is therefore proposed that the various societies there represented, and all cithers who may wish to enter Into anon an arrange ment, should associate themsnves nnder a perma nent organization, and having a common head, with vice-presidents and corresponding secretaries in each State, and holding periodical county, State, and national musical gatherings; such association having for It object the stimulating and develop ing of musical taste In the hearts of the wholo peo ple, and the correction of the false standards which have been heretofore too prevalent. It la believed lhat a new era In mnslc is on the eve of Inaugura tion, and that advantage may and ought to be taken of the present Interest to exalt It to an appro priate place in the national heart. Believing with Luther that Its power In moulding the people Is second only to that of the Church, we call upon good men everywhere to unite with us In this movement, and by popularizing the art, make It tho means for promoting the social, moral, and religious Improve ment of our fellow-men. The chord Just struck, and which has produced such wondrous harmony, must not cease to vibrate until tho whole people shall see and feel the power of song to refine and elevate the heart We therefore request each musical society throughout the country to appoint two delegates to meet In convention at Music Hall, Boston, Septem ber S2, 189, at 10 A. M., for the purpose of effecting a national organization, to draft a constitution and elect officers, and for such other business as may legitimately come before such association. Where no society already exists, It Is earnestly desired that one be formed without delay. Let the entire country be represented In the convention. Send list of officers and names of delegates to the undersigned, who will, where It Is desired, furnish plans for the formation of societies, and any other information relative to the proposed movement. We are not alone In this enterprise. It has been submitted to many prominent friends of music from all parta of the country, who have given It their warm approval. Nor, though It emanates from New England, has It any sectional bias. It alms at nothing less than the national good. And we have a higher and holier Incentive than the mere desiro for the success of the cause of music, although tats has been our life-work, believing It to be the cause of the church, and that It may be made to contribute largely to Its success, we commend It to His care who Is the patron of the churches, and hopofully In voke upon ft the Divine blessing. K. Toub.irb, Music Hall, Boston, Mass. SfMMtn Perils How to Escape Them. It will not do to trille with the health in hot weather. Vigor oozes through the skin at every pore, and it is by physical vigor only that unhealthy intluences oan be baffled and repelled. The vital elements are evaporated in perspiration. Intense heat converts a man into a self-acting pump, and the moisture that is pumped out of him Is derived from the well-springs of life within him. There is great need, there fore, that these sources of physical strength should be in a condition to bear, without danger or inconvenience, the extraordinary drain. If they are not in such a condition. the individual beoomes languid and low-spirited. The main thing is to keep the digestive apparatus in good working trim; for if the stomach, the purveyor of the system, does its duty thoroughly, the liver, the bowels, the brain, and the nervous system, being duly nurttired, will be likely to do theirs. In view of these facta, it is manifest that a powerful and wholesome vegetable tonio like Hon- tettkm'8 Stomach Bittehh is especially required at this enfeebling season. It is the most admirable of all correc tives and invigorants, and for this reason: it does not over-stimulate the system. The proportions of aperient, tonio and stimulating components are so Judiciously gradated, tbat the processes of invigoration and purifica tion go on simultaneously, and no nadue excitement is created in the circulation or the brain. AU nnmedicated stimulants, however pure, excita the pulse and the ner vous system. Their exhilarating effect is temporary, and when it passes off the physical and mental depression they were employed to remove returns in an aggravated form. But this is not the case when Hostetter's Bitters are taken as a stomachic and nervine. The medicinal herbs, reots, and gums with which they are impregnated neutral ize the exoiting principle of the rye spirit which forms their basis, and which is in itself the most wholesome of all the varieties of alcohol. t rffs have sold so fast JlfVi'S HAVE SOLD SO FAST Our Spring ami Summer Clothing Our Spring and Stunnier Clothing tf"V'T.
