Last evening the Committee of Councils ap pointed to arrange for the ceremonies incident to the presentation of the Washington statue on Monday next, met in Select Council chamber. Messrs. Freeborn, Gordon, and Cooper, on be half of the Monument Association, were present, and explained to the committee what was pro posed to be doue. The children, whose liberality has secured the monument, had been invited to be present, nnd tho question was what disposi tion to make of them in connection with the ceremonies. It was estimated that two or three thousand children would be in attendance. It was decided to give this portion of the pro gramme to the control of Professor Bower, in connect iou wHU the Committee of tho Mouu- liient Association. The children will meet at their respective schools and march to Independence Square, en tering by the Walnut street gale. Here they will be joined by the several associations bear ing the name of Washington, nud then march to the front of the Hull. A stand will be erected for the committee nnd orators; but in order to avoid accidents, the children and others will be ranged ou tho side walk in front of the statue, tho whole, square being kept clear for them. llie committee also decided to employ McC'lui'g's Hand for the occasion.
