Foreign (Josslp. The latest attempt of the Wababees to stir up a revolt among the Mohammedan I'Oj.nlation of India Is not likely to be fraa trated without considerable trouble. The police, as we learn from recent accounts, are constantly making arrests. One correspon dent says that the Government has been 'haughtily Indifferent" to the progress of the conspiracy, but this reproach scarcely seems justified by what we know of its proceedings. When the plot was discovered the leaders were at onoe warned that they were under surveillance. Their followers were cowed by the knowledge that the Government was fully prepared to deal with them the moment they came forth from their hiding places. The consequence of this may be seen in the de nunciations of the new "cresoentade" put forward by well-known Mohammedans. Monlvie Abbas All has told hU fellow-ooun-trymen that defeat and suffering will inevi tably attend their organization. Althongh the Government eannot afford to relax its vigilance for some, time to come, we may reasonably hope that it has gained too firm a hold upon the plot and the originators of it to allow it to do any farther mischief. The annual returns of shipbuilding on the Clyde have juet been published, and, aa usual, compare favorably with those of the previous year. The number of vessels built has been 219, representing a total of 1G!),056 tons and 15,222 nominal horse power. In IS 67, when the number of vessels constructed was 242, they represented only 113,005 tons and 14,844 nominal horse-power. Of all the builders, Messrs. Napier seem to have been most highly favored with orders for ships of war. Daring the past year they have built and launched two monitors, De Buffel and De Tyger, for the Dutoh Government, and have at present on the stocks two iron-clads, the Audacious and the Invincible, besides the Hotspur, an armor-plated ram, for the English navy. The former vessels are nearly ready for launching. Messrs. Barclay & Curie have completed as many as sixteen vessels, repre senting in the aggregate 16,031 tons, and con sisting chiefly of sailing ships for the private trade. Messrs. Randolph & Elder have built a considerable number of steamers for the principal steamship companies. Messrs. Con cell & Co., of Overnewton, havo constructed several composite vessels for the China and East Iddia trade. Among the remaining builders we may mention the well-known firm of Messrs. Caird & Co., of Greenock, who have built and "engined" six steamers (giving a total of 20,085 tons), principally for transat lantic servioe. MARINE TELEGRAPH.
