THE DAILY EVENING TELEGKAPH PI1IL ADELPHIA, FRIDAY, NOTEMBEIl 27, 1868. MUSICAL AND DRAMATIC. 911m Ktlloirir'a 'onert. Ulu Kellogg' brilliant sacoeas la Earopn WH ft source of great tlfctlon to her friend ud erlttoal admirers la tbli country, for, Inda. pendently of her merits as an artist, she ht. tb rare faculty of establlsiilna a sort of Intimacy With each member of her audience. And If her style, culture, and the qualities of her voloe were less worthy of commendation, this personal magnetism would still make her one of the most popular sinner on the stage. Miss Kellogsr, too, Is an American by birth and education, and it was here that her merits obtained the fullest recog nition before she went before strange people to have the approving verdict of her friends at home confirmed. Her triumphs In Europe Were no more than what her most discreet ad mirers expected, but as the first really flue lyrio artist that we have sent across the At lantic, the enthusiasm wnloh site created In London wan esteemed to bo as much a national as a personal compliment. Miss Kellogg has always been a great favorite In this city, and her reception on WedaesJay evening, when she made her first appearance after her return from Europe, was as cordial as he could have desired, and the only cause f r regret was tli'. ahe did not have 'an oppar tnnlty todUplay lior powers to the lullest ex tent In an operatlo performance. The flri air, the polacca from liolllnl's opera of Turilant, WfiM sung with fine expression and In noswer to an eucore she gave Longfellow' ballad of "Beware" In a very be Wltohlng manner, aocoiupanylng herself on th-t piano, The duet from the xVozze tii Pigiroal Mozart, with Blgnor Petrelll, was aino de servedly applauded. Instead of the "Vol oue Bapete," wblob was announced la the pn gramme, an aria from Von (Jiovanni was given In the second part of the entertainment, and an encore of this elicited a delicious l allai kiss song, whlou was repeated iu compliance With an enthuslastle demaud. A trio from Verdi's Allila with Blgnorl Lottl and Petrelll concluded the performance, and sent the audience home In the most pleasurable state of mind. Miss Kelloge's trip to Europe has Improved her both In appearance and exe cution, and she comes before the American publlo again a finer artist than ever. The pro gramme on Wednesday evening was excellent, and the performance altogether very superior. Slgnor Petrelll Is a fair tenor, equal to conoert Xoora requirements, and Blgnor Lottl has a fine baritone voIqh, but he does not sing with over-much expression. Mad'lle Allda Topp does credit to her tutor Lli-zt, aud her piano execution is something remarlrable. It Is doubtful whether we have ever had a lady pianist In this city before who could equal her In her command over tbe Instrument, and In her firm and vigorous touch. The fuutaMa by Llfzt,in the first pan, and the "Polka de la Bhlne" by Ran, In the second part, were both encored, and In answer Mad'lle Topp gave a couple of waltzes by Cuoplu and Rati. Among the most enjoyable portions of the -entertainment were Herr Kopta's solos on the Violin. The "Reverie" by Vleuxtemps, and the "CaKcade" by A. de Konskl, In the first part, were applauded in the heartiest manner. Tne PaganlDlan variation, executed on the U string only, In the second part, was a remarkable ex hibition of skill, and It obtained an encore' which lierr Kopta answered by giving an imi tation of the flageolet aud bagpipes. The concert was In the highest degree enjoy, able, and while we regret tn-U Mr. dtrakusah has found it necessary to make his present stay In Philadelphia with Miss Kellogg so short, we hope that he will allow us the pleasure of see ing her attain before the season Is over.
