JHE UNION PACIFIC RAILROAD COMPANY Are now construtth g a Railroad from OMAHA, N 15 BIIA8K A, Westward towards the Pacific Ocean, mnking wltb Its connections an unbroken line AOllOSS THE CONTINENT, Tbe Company now offer a limited amount of their. FlUaT MORTUACE B(LI)S, Having thirty years to run, and bearing annual inte rest, payable on the first days of JAN U Alt Y and JULY, In the City or New York, at the rate of SIX PER CENT. IN GOLD, Ninoty Cents on tho Dollar. This road was completed from Omaha 90S miles west on the 1st ot January, 1867, and Is lully equipped, and trains are regularly running over It. Tbe Company bas now ou band sulllclent Iron, ties, eto. to finish the remaining portion to the easiern base of the Rocky Mountains, X12 miles, which Is under contract to be done September 1 of this year, and It Is expected that the entire road will be In running order from Omaha to Its western connection wltb the Central Paolflo now being rapidly built eastward from Sacramento Cal., during 1870. JtiEANH OF TUB COJIPAMT, Estimating tbe distance to be built by the Union Pact lie to be 1663 miles, tbe United States Govern ment Issues Us Blx Per Cent. Thlriy-Yeor Bonds to tbe Company as the road la finished, at the average rate of about f 28,250 per mile, amounting to f44 208,000. Tbe Company Is also permitted to Issue Its own First Mortgage Bonds to an equal amount, and at the same Ume.wblchBY BPKCIAL ACT OF CONUREH3 ARB MADE A FIRST MORTGAGE ON THE ENTIRE LINE, the Bonds of tbe United States being tubordi natetothem. The Oovernment makes a donation of 12,800 acres ot land to the mile, amounting 20,032,000 acres, estimated to be worth 1 30,000,000, making tbe total resources, ex. elusive of the capital, tiis,4ie,ooo: but the full value of tbe lands cannot now be realized. The authorized Capital Stock of the Company is one hundred million dollars, of which five millions have already been paid In, and of which it Is not supposed that more than twenty-Ave million at most will be required. The cost of tbe road Is estimated by competent engi neers to be ibont one hundred million dollars, exclu sive of equipment. PROSPECTS FOR RCSINESS. The railroad connection between Omaha and the East Is now complete, and the earnings of the Union Pacific on tbe sections already finished for the month ot May were (201,782. These sectional earnings as the road progresses will much more than pay tbe Interest on the Company's bonds, and tbe through business over tbe only line of railroad between the Atlantic and Paclflo must be Immense. VALVE AND MECUR1TT OF THE BOHDS, The Company respectfully submit that the above statement of facts fully demonstrates the security of their Bonds, and as additional proof they would sug gest that the Bonds now otlered are less than ten mil lion dollars on 517 miles of road, on which over twenty million dollars have already been expenned. Onaso miles of this road the cars are now running, and the remaining 187 miles are nearly completed. At the present rate ot premium on gold these Bonds pay an annual interest on the present cost of NINE PER CENT., And tt Is believed that on tbe completion of the road. like tbe Oovernment Bonds, tbey will go above par. The Company Intend to sell but a limited amount at tbe present low rate, and retain the right to advance tbe price at their option.
