-For the Evcntito Tclrpraph. TIIE FORSAKEN. BY E. LUCIEN BK'UIR. .Another morn lias rollwl away; Another eun declined afar Another night Buccefded day, And still another blazing star Been trlmin'd, and set in azure sky, To light the augels passing by: And yet, no tidings from the land ; No herald bright from o'er the sea, Or welcome message from the hand Of Love has ever oomo to me, Fince on that golden summer's day, I, trusting, gave my heart away. Oh 1 sudden joy, and blissful dream : Oh I charming hour, and story true, How very near to me you seem, And yet, art lost to earthly view As angel blight, or vision fair, While homeward winging through tho air! Alas 1 the loved one's far away, And naught on earth oan solace bring: Alone, alone, all night, all day, .... With bleeding heart aad"uroken wing, As wounded bird, I turn to fly, But find it sweeter far to die. In shadow-land my soul doth dwell. Where blighted Hope lies down to dream And faintly whispers, "All is well," As swiftly down the troubled stream The life-bark glides to mystic shore For rest; and vuiatje thence no more. II. Yesterday afternoon, about two o'clock, an explosion look place at Hayes ft Ellis' lumber yard and steam saw mill. No. 4762 Fiankiord avuiuo. The explosion was caused by an accumulation of gas in the furnace under the boilers. It appears that a quantity of shavings had been placed in the furnace by the fireman, who was Bring up preparatory to start ing the engine, which caused the gas to accu mulate to such an extent that the doors of the iurraces flew open, and the gas rushed out, causing the walls round the boilers, about six ieethieh, to be thrown down. The supports are aUo knocked Horn under the boilers, ani it -aill be necessary ton set the boilers beiore tbey can be ued. At the time of the disaster, u number ot the workmen were sta-.diug in Irorat of the boilers, two of shorn James Stewart, the engineer, aod 8amucl Hart, a workman were slightly scorched in the ir backs. The boilers are fide by side, and are each twenty-five horse pown, and have ben in use about four'eeu years. Tbey were exnmi tied about Christmas, and are considered hou ml. although before being again used they will be thoroughly over hauled.
