Ann Farrel, an inmate of the Almshouse, died sud denly yesterday. An inquest will be held to day. Yesterday morning about 11 o'clock five boys, named Connor. Gouldey, King, Hamilton, and Lawrence, went out on the Schuylkill in a batteau; when opposite Columbia bridge the boat capsized, thro wins the occupant9 into the water. William Hamilton, aged 18, and John Lawrence, aged 15 years, were drowned,- the other youth were rescued. Tbe Coroner will hold an inquest to-day. Thb Colored People op New Jersey Awake Large Meeting op thb Blacks Demanding thb Right to Vote. Upon very short notioe a large meeting of the colored people waa held at tbe Mission School House, Camden county, last night, presided over by Charles Height, Esq., with Captain Owens as Vice-President. After a btief speech lrom the President, who thought that immediately the colored men should orga nize and request Governor Ward to use his influence in lavor of striking out the word 'whita" from tbe Constitutloa of New Jersey, Hon. James 1.1. Scovel made a telling speech of an hour, in which he reviewed the political situation. He said the earnest men ot the country would not be laughed out of this move ment. The cause would go on. Ridicule was a powerful weapon on the side of truth. Against truth it.wai weaker than a pigmy's straw. Mr. gcovel demanded for the blacks that the pledge made by the friends of -the Union during the war should be kept to those who bad shed their blood for ns. He detailed a very interebting conversation with General Grant last week, who believed that South Carolina would force negro Hutlraee UDon Pennsylvania and New Jersey.
