The only extra expense Incurred by the Government in tTie acquisition of Russian America was the cost of a telegram sent during the negotiation from Washington to Oeneral Halleok, at San Francisco, asking what would t a reasonable price, and of his reply, that a reasonable rrice would be from fire to ten Millions of dollars. Xhi Kxplotlon of Gasoline. There was a serious explosion of gasoline at the City Tost Office thin morning, nearly re uniting fatally to three persons. Two gasolin. machines of rival patents are being tested to light the Tost Office, and it is charged that eonio person in the interest of one of the patents opened the stop-cock of the other machine, whereby the room was filled with gas, resulting in an explosion, when it was ntered with a lighted candle about live 'clock this morning James A. Kennedy, Superintendent of the Post Office, was badly turned, as were A. II. Doubleday and L. H. Moses, clerks. The latter cannot recover. The police are endeavoring to develop the affair. The Supreme Court. A brilliant array of counsel is gathered in the Supreme Court room to-day, in anticipa tion of the argument upon the Georgia petition against the Military Reconstruction bill. Most of the leading members of the New York bar are present. Attorney-General 8tanbery,"in an elaborate argument, is opposing the motion to grant injunctions in the Mississippi and Georgia cases. The court-room is crowded with spectators and a brilliant array of counsel fn both sides. The preoit indications are that the motion in the Mississippi injunction case will be denied. Death of a Newspaper. The Evening Leahr, the afternoon paper lately started here, has been suspended. J. Wilkes Booth's Skeleton. The National Medical Museum, late Ford's Theatre, where Lincoln was assassinated, will he opened on the anniversary of Lincoln's death. It contains the backbone of Booth, with the ball that killed him. The Adjournment Question. The Senate is engaged in discussing the adjournment question. Mr. Sumner thinks they ought to stay and fight it out; others are for yielding. They will probably agree on some day next week. Philada.
