Mrs. Joseph'ne Stevens did duty as sponsor, pronouncing the baptismal service. The Active was launched with masts in, and rigging complete. Captain Nones has been for lorty years in the revenue service, and freely expresses the opinion that no Treasury Depart ment in the world ever had sailing cutters of equal excellence and beamy with the Active and her twin sister. Accidents and Hospital Items. John Hun ter, aed twenty-nine, r-jsidiug at Uristol, while encaged in running tackling on board ot the schooner Clarence Merrick, was severely injured by a bundle of cordase falliue upon him. Patrick Flynn, aged tortv-flve, bad his foot mashed by a dirt car pasinK over it, on tie Pennsylvania Railroad, lie was taken to the Hospital for treatmont. Mr. Charles Dixey, Commissioner of City Property, is supcrmtendius the work of cleaning up and repairing these places of resort. For several days past workmen have been engaged in graveling the walks, pruning the trees, and reuovatiug the squaies generally. Mr. Dixey hopes to open these piaces of resort to the public by Mondny next. It has been customary to open them on the 14th of tue month, but this year they will be thrown open to the public at an earlier date. Pickpockets at Work.
