Mr. Charles Warner, living at No. Vino street, testified thai the prisoner, who gave the name of Myers, engaged board at his house about three weeks ago, and left suddenly the next morning, taking with him an overcoat belonging to Mr. Cnttell, one of the boarders. The prisoner Informed witness that he w.is employed by Mr. Truilt, a hardware merchant on Market street, and that his trunk was ul the store. The magistrate questioned Kiehardson as to whether he was employed by Mr. Truitt. The reply was no. , Mr. Kobert Huey, boarding at No. 120 N. The Grand Jury also call attention to pramblinp-houses, and trus-t that prosecutions against these establishments will be continued until thev are broken up. After the presentment, Judge Pierce thanked the Jury for their attention to the interests confided to tbem. In reference to the gambling, the Judge called attention to the new plan of carrying ou a species ot lotteries in the form of prize con certs and prize pictures. These thins must re ceive the attention ol the authorities, iu order to protect citizens from swindling. Meeting of the Board of Trade. Yes terday the City Commissioners opened the bids ot those who desired to supply them with elec tion black-, assessors' and window books, pen cils ink, etc. The bids were opened in presence of the Finance Committee, and alter being read, the awarding, ot the contract was postponed. The bidders were John Given, C. K. Smith, Thomas W. Price, King & Baird, Kobert T. Gill, and others. The bids Varied considerably, some of the parties oflering to furnish articles at less than the original cost. One of the bidders pro poses to furnish Guttknecht pencils, which cost over $4 per gross, at $1-75 per gtoss, aud half sheet cap paper, printed on both sides, at $2 per thousand sheets. The printing of the sheets alone, it is said, will cost thp amount of the bid. The Warfare Against the Ice-Blockade.
