After the singing of another hymn, Rev. Dr. Carrow made nn address, in which he clearly denned the obtect of the meeting. The occasion being jubilee over the extineulpumout of the debt of the church, amounting to eleven thou sand dollars or more, It should call forth from the entire membership of tde church sirtcro rejoicing. One of the happy features of the occasion was the raising of a subscription of over $'i00 to secure the comfort of two a?ed widows in the new Methodist Home, on Broad street. The church membership Is rapidly Increasing, and now that the entire debt nas been removed, it will no doubt soon become one of the largest congregations ol this persuasion in this city. Convention of Colored Soldiers and Sailors Afternoon Session.- Kev. J. W. Lojrtn, of New York, delivered a lervent prayer that the colored people should Vie strengthened ana guarded with heavenly wisdom in the pre sent times. Mr. Chatton, of Reading, Pa., prcented a re solution, which was referred to the Business Committee, petitioning the State Legislature for the immediate granting of the right ol euffrnee to all the colored soldier", suitors, and citizens of Pennsylvania, without any restriction on account of color. Letters from Senator Yates, of Illinois; Gov erner Andrew, ot Massachusetts; General Lewis Wagner, and others, were read, cordially sym pathizing with the objects of the Convention. The Committee on Business reported a lengthy series of resolutions, acknowledging the indebt edness ol their race to Almighty God for His manifold blessings in voucusaung ireeaom to xthelr enslaved brethren, and expressing their ; thanks to the people of this country and to Congress for their steadfast exertions in their behalf, despite the oppressive measures of tho President ot tho United Slates. The denial of the right of suffrage to all Ame rican citizens, regardless of color, whs a blas " pheiuous denial of the divine principles upon which all governments are lounded. For '' nlnrl mnn u'oa rlpmnnrlprl thr" ririvilprP of being able to occupy any position in the army , . and navy to which their abilities should declare them competent. - Another series of resolutions were offered, - earnestly protesting against the payment -of '" bounties and pay to the former slave-owners, on account of the services of the freedmen who ' battled for the salvation of the nation in her hour of danger. ' Mr, fcbippen (Mr. Fletcher in tbe chair) stated that nnder the million loan nunieoua school building are now being erected in all portions of the city. In many cases the contmotois are faithless to their trust. In one instance, menttontd by him, where the contract called for pressed brick, the contractor need an infe rior article until compelled by the Committee an Pro perty to fulfil his agreement. The greatness of the work requires supervision. The Board of Control cannot exercise personal care over the various build ings onder onstructiou in the city, nor can the seo tional directors give individual attention totbelm- firovements. Mr.Sbippen, thrrefore offered a reso ntiou that the Committee on Property select a com petent practical builder to examine and supervise tne contracts for new buildings and their fulfilment, the committee to name the salary of such an inspector. -Mr. Stanton moved to amend that the committee's nomination be aporoved by the Boatd.
