The consolidated grammar and unclassified
schools will be furnished wltn book?, &c, suitable
for pupils of said schools, from each of the above

This list was unanimously ordered to go into
force on and after the first of the year.
Mr. Freeborn ottered a resolution that no nw
books be hereafter introduced save on the 1st of
January. This was laid on the table Messrs.
Freeborn, Greer and Shippen t,lone voting In the
negative. This seems to practically ignore the
adoption of the above list as a uniform standard
for the schools, as new book can now be added at
any time.
Mr. Carrigan presented resolutions of thanks to
Mr. Slilppen, the President, tind Henry W. Unlit
well and Wm. Dick, clerks, uud to the messenger,
for the Initbtul performance of their respective
d:i:ies. The resolutions were apreed to.
Mr. Shipjx ii responded, end the Board adjourned
ir,t die.

Christian Association have perfected the pro
gramme for a week ol prayer. It will commence
on January 0, at the Central Presbyterian Church.
The EubBtqnfiit meetings v.'ill beheld thus: On
Tuesday, Spring Garden Methodist Church; on
Wednebday, Clinton Street Presbyterian Church;
on Thursday, Spruce Street Baptist Church: on
Friday, Kev. lr. Wiley 's, and on Saturday, Kev.

gelize the unconverted of all lands and classes.

suffered from the recent wars; for our brethren
emancipated from slavery, and for our fellow
Cbnetians persecuted for the Gospel's sake.
Friday, January 11 Prayer for Christian fami
lies, for schools, colleges and universities.
Saturday, January 12 Prayer for the Catholic
Church,' for all ministers of the Gospel, and for
the increase of holiness, fidelity and Christian
charity among the members.
Sunday, January 13. Sermons on the unity of
the Church nd the duty of believers to manifest it
by mutual recognition and active co-operatian.
Aiothee Auxiliary. As the result of a num
ber ol conferences by the leading lriends of religi
ous education in the Episcopal Church, has been
established the Evangelical Education Society.
It Is designed to be auxiliary to the American
Church Missionary Society. Its special purpose
'will be to secure and educate suitable candidates
for the ministry. In this direction the Episcopal
Church is becoming a formidable rival of the po
pulous Methodist Society. Within the past few
years an impetus has been given to frontier Epis
copalianism, which places it far in advance of its
past history in the itinerant and missionary fields on
the extreme borders. With particular reference to
this distinct enterprise the new Society has been
ifccepted. Its ollice is 1224 Cnesnut street, and its

The Late Accident Coroxeb's In
qVEer. Yesterday afternoon an inquest was
held at Coroner Daniels' office upon the body of
John Logue, who was killed by a wall tailing
upon him at the northwest corner of Twelfth
and Market streets, on Thursday morning. The
1 olio wing testimony was heard:
Kooert Weeter, living at No. 1207 Carlton
treet, testified that he keptacoil'ee-stand ut the
corner, on the Twelfth street side of the build
ing; had examined the buildinsr a short time
before the wall tell; considered it sale; about 11
o'clock in the morning, while conversing with
Mr. Keenan, the wall tell; Mr. Logue was in the
street at the time loading a waeon; understood
that Mr. Liggett baa notiaea tae Duudiug in
tpectors to view the property.
Matthew Uobertson testified that he was in
the cellar at the tinv? tlvj wall fell; did not con
sider the wall safe.
Kobert Liggett testified that he owned the
bulldina; the morning of the Bre he went to the
building inspectors; saw tbe clerk; was told by
him to get a permit; the Fire Association sent
up eorae men to look at the building; witness
told them that bethought it dangerous; tbey
replied thi't thty considered it safe.
The jury returned the following verdict:
That the said John Loitue came to his death by
injuries received li oni the lailintr of a wall at the
building N. W. corner of Twellth and Market

Skull Fhactured. Mr. Ltiram Wetzel,
while ndint? out about 5 o'clock yesterday after
noon, was thrown or)', on Frankford road, below
Oirard avenue. His skull was fractured. He
was taken to the f.pueopal Hospital.

Anthony Hotleer, aped 81 yeais, rcstditiR at
No. HID Christian street, had his arm broken by
a barrel ol beer rolling on it, at No. 618 Butkley
street.
Mary Bropby, aced 35 years, employed as a
domestic at the Continental Hotel, fell while
eolng down stairs in the dark, and fractured
her arm.
alary Ann Puruell, twenty-dent years of ase,
living, with Mr. Ware, at No. 1 Dock street,
clipped on a piece of atinc, while goinir down
fctairs, and broke her ankle.
John Qnigley, aped thirty-six years, living at
fctphtcf nth and Bedford streets, was badly
scalded at the Btill ot Mr, Crrr, on Washington
avenue, betweeu Siith and Seventh streets,
Qnigley was at work near the still, when it ex
ploded, inhume him so bod) v that his lile is
despaired of.
Mary Flwherty, aped threa and a half years,
living at No. 527 South Front street, was badly
burned yeetrrday, by her clothing taking tire
from the etove during ihe absence of her
pprents.
Mary Goodwin, forty years of see, living at
No. "J24 South Third street, fell while taking
down, a clothes-line, and broke her arm.
The above were ull admitted into the Penn
sylvania Hospital.

kuk. The Congressional Committee relativo to
revenue frauds, lion. W. A. Darling Chairman,
was in n'sstoii yesterday a tcruoon at the Couti
rental Hotel, and will continue their investiga
tions today. A number of witne-ses were
examined in regard to alleged corruptions per
petrated upon the Internal Revenue Depart

Thursday night closed the Schuylkill with ice
above and below the dam. The gale of wind
