JoFeph Andrews, who works about the New Market, was sunstruck. John Bopgs, 35 years old, residing at Shlppen street and Sbippen lane, was sunstruck near Thirteenth and Market streets. John Gibbons, from rennsgrove, N. J., was admitted from sunstroke. Patrick Starr was sunstruck. He resides near Fourth and Shippen streets. An unknown man died suddenly at the Hos pital yesterday from the effects ot the heat. Robert Wooden, thirty years old, died at the Hospital from sunstroke. Lust evening a man, name unknown, died at Wolfl's saloon, Front and Moore streets. Alter rundown last sveuincr, there was a con siderable improvement in toe weather. The beat was no longer oppressive indoors, and there was an agreeable breeze outside. There were twenty-eight cases of sunstroke in ali, and fourteen deaths. COKFLAGBATION IN COMMERCE STREET A Wail Falls ani Injures a Number op Firemen. At halt-past 12 o'clock this morning fire v. as discovered on the ground floor of the building situate at No. 5UG Commerce street, and in a tew minutes the flames burst Irom the second storv, and rapidly advanced upwards to the roof. The building is of ancient structure, the bricks being half black and red, such as were used in old times. Tbe roof was built up ot wood from the top of the brick work to the height of three or four feet, and in this was an old-fashioned "arret window. It was occupied on the ground floor by Mr. Roberts, as a cooper shop, and in the upper stories by Mendenball & Garrison, carpenters. Toe llamc9 spread so fast that nothing m the building could be saved. No. 604 is a three-atory brick, occupied by Ideesrs. Ilaneinger & Brittain as a hardware store, and the firemen were in time with their ladders so as to get h.e up and save this building. It will be somewhat damaged by water. Owing to the promptness ot the firemen none of the buildings were damaged by tire save the one in which it originated, and it whs a fortu nate circumstance that (tie adjacent buildings were so much higher than it. They all con tained valuable stocks ot goods. The buildings at No. 607 Market street, occu pied by Benton, Campbell A Co., and No. 509, occupied by J. W. bouder, were used to convey hose through, and were somewhat damaged by water. The policeman who gave the alarm says there was not murb tire when he started for the Central Station. The firemen acted vigorously, and with gieat judgment. Joseph Donnelly, of the America Hose; Mr. Goiman, of tbe Good Intent Hose; Mr. Linehart, ot the Columbia Hose: Messrs. Cress. Lewis, George M.
