The Nhw Ledger Buildings. Tester day, at 12 o'clock, the bids lor the extensions to the new Ledger Buildings, at the south est cor ner of Chcsnut and Bixtb streets, were opened At tbo Butler House, on Sixth street, below Chcsnut, in presence of the several bidders. There were five proposals, as follows: Balder ston AlbeTtson, $222,000; D. Cramer Son, $232,000 each to complete the building in eieht months; John Ketchum, $220,204'3i, to do the work in eight months: John Crump. $182,000, the buildinir to be finished within nine months; and $192,000 ii completed within six-months; U. A. Dobbins, $185,150, with a deduction for tbe mateiiuls in the old buildings on Sixth street and in the rear, the entire buildings to be com pleted in ciehi months Irom May 1. These bids do not include the brown-stone front, about 100 feet on Birth street, which has been contracted lor by Struthers A Son, at about $20,000. Last evening, Chris tian Wertz, aged twenty-eight years, was attacked by three unknown men, on Salmon street, Nineteenth. Ward, aud severely beaten. In addition to his skull being fractured, he re ceived other injuries, and bis lite is despaired ol. The injured man was conveyed to the Epis copal Hospital. It is supposed he was seeking work at the Port Richmond coal wharves, and the men who attacked him were some of the strikers. Arrest of a Notorious Thief. An in dividual named Mike Mulberron, well known to the police, was arrested on Tuesday ni?ht by tbe Filth District officers, lie is charged with com mitting several robberies. lie had' on, when arrested, a new suit of clothes, which have since been identified by a gentleman rrom wnom tney were stolen.
