8 ARIZONA. ytmr with tb A pacta Iaellawe A. Lara; JTr f Uattedl States) Traap patched from California t Arlaasia eral Me D well CmmiIi( la reraan, Em. 8ak Francisco, February 9. The Apaches of AriroDa are in a lair way to catch, what they richly deserve at latt Troopi are being hurried forward aa fait aa poislble from here to Fort Yuma, whence they will march into the Interior of Arizona, and loin in the grand attack on the Apache which General Mason is now malting. 1 he 14th United States Infantry, to the number of over two thoosnnd, have already left, and a portion of the 1st United States Cavalry (late from Mew York) are at Los Angeles, being mounted for the onmpaign. These, added to thd volunteers now with General Mason, the native llexicrtn cavalry in onr service in Arizona, the Irreenlar or 1'imo and Maricopa Indian troops now in the service and giving a good aecouut ol themselves, will make a respectable force, and we look loc stirring news from the land of rrold and rattlesnukes this turamer. General McDowell has gone forward in person to see how things are point: on there, and If the Apaches do not come- to grief now they never will. Uncle Sam will have another "Florida war'' bill to settle, but the diflcreuee is this Florida was not worth the money, while Arizona is one vast field of mineral weatb, of the extent and value of which the people of tne Atlantic States have to-day no adequate Idea.' The Liberty (Mississippi) Herald says: 'From all purls of tne country we have cheer ing information concern nir tho'treedmen. As a general thing, they have trone to work, and seem disposed to faithfully com plv with their contracts .The fanners throughout Amite are making ex tensive preparations for planting cotton, and we trust that next fall may realize their utmost wishes." CITY INTELLIGENCE l For Additional Looat Items set Third Page. Meeting of the Agricultural So ciety. A regular stated meeting of the Phila delphia Society for Promoting Agriculture was held this morning, at Hi o'clock, at the rooms of the Society, Walnut street, above Seventh. The President, Craig Biddle, In the chair. The President stated that since the last meet ing a number of monthly reports of the Agricul tural Society from June and July, 1865, had been received lor distribution among the members. The President then stated that a communica tion had been received from the Department of Agriculture at Washington, relating to tne great Universal Exhibition at Paris, in 1867. The communication asks lor the co-operation of the Philadelphia Society lor Promoting Agriculture, in relation to having the . State represented in the Agricultural department of that exhibition. A supplementary circular was also received, containing avai lety of information in relation to the Paris exhibition, and stating that the ex hibition building would cost 20,000,000 francs, and that each nation would be expected to bear its own expenses. A circular, was also received from Mr. Derby, containing full, details of matters connected With sending articles to the great exhibition. Dr. El win thought-that the Society should confer with the Philadelphia Board of Trade in relation to sending articles to gaid exhibition. Dr. Kennedy stated that we nave never been Troperly represented at the ditTerent Worlds' Exhibitions, and if anything was sent it should be something striking, and that would make an inioreeeion on European judores, Ho thought that a uStiCal vessel should be secured to send goods to the Paris Exkitfition, The whole subject was referred to a Committee existing of Dr. Kennedy and Dr. El win. A eominun'iCBtioh was teceived from Dr. Henry Cloak, late Veterinary Surgetn U. S. A., in rela tion to the Ktnderpest, cattle plague and cattle pox. The communication fltttf? fbat the Kinder pest is not the 6mallpor. . i A communication was also received from Mr, Jesse M. Williams, denying that tht cattle disease prevailed in Montgomery county to any alarming extent. There is no mora disease amoDg cattle in that cotinty at present than is generally the case, and there is no cause lor any excitement on the subject. Dr. El win made some remarks in relation to Rinderpest. He had failed to discover anything like Rinderpest in Chester and Delaware coun ties, but had met a few cases of pleura pneu monia. He proposed that a committee, con sisting of Drs. McClure and Jennings and Professor. Seeley be appointed to make s series of scientific investigations in relation to the Rinderpest, and if it is proved that no such disease exists, and that it is simply pleuro pneumonia, the public should be offi cially Informed of the fact as soon as possible. Dr. McClure gave as his opinion that there Is not a single case of Rinderpest on the continent of America. Dr. Kennedy thought that the cattle dlseate in Montgomery county had been greatly aagniBca. He thought that the letters written by Dr. Corson to Dr. Worthlngtxm, of West Chester, in which it is claimed that the Rinderpest exists in that county,- have been misrepresentec . Dr. Corson's letters related, merely to pleura pneu monia. ' The meeting, after some little discussion, passed the following resolution: Resolved, That this Society has no information which would justify the belief that tkero exists 'among the cattle of our country any greater amount ot disease than usual. Xeglect of sanitary regulations and certain local cauws produce at all times diseases among men and beasts. It is unwise to confound these re cults of evident causes with the great scourge sow afflicting the cattle of England. That, neveitheless, it is highly proper that unusual precautions should be taken to keep our animals in strong health, and to prepare, as 2est we can, against further danger. After some further remarks the meeting ad journed. , Sale or Mirrors. B.
