Hoard of Trade -Rooms. 'Ac. Caleb Cope was
called to the chair. Jr. Edward Huowden was
appointed Secretary pro tern. The report of the
Board of Manoeera wasrvart by Mr. John M. At
wood. It shows that three of thoe who have
been receiving assistance have died during
the post year. Donations umounting to f D.iUO
have been granted to twentv one persona. Seven
teen persons are still receiving assistance. Of
these Hi teen are between tho aires, or sixty and
eighty-tour years. The committee appointed at

is tho name of an orpaimafun lately called into
existence by former ollicer and soldiers oi the
il8th, 83d, 70th, 27(h Infantry, the 6th and 12th
Cavalry, of Pentistlvania, sis well as the 2.ith
New York Volunteer Recipient, and already
numbers over one hundred members. Tho
object of the Legion, which is principally of a
civic nature, is the maintenance of sentiments
of good fellowship anion;; late comraJes In the
wur against Southern at:gr3Mon; the purchase
and maintenance of a bunal place in a suitable
cemetery; the erection of a neuttins monument
thereon; the burial with military honors, and
at the expense of the organization, ot deceased
member,; and the extcn ion of the band ot
lilendship and succor to 1 hem that may be In
distress. A constitution and by-laws, similar to
those ot the Scott Legion, have been adopted,
and all olucers, soldiers, and marines who
loucht in the lute war are cordially invited to
loin this Legion. The prcent headquarters of
the organization ore at I .miner's Military Hall,
Third street, below Green, wtat-re the Legion
meets on the evening of the first Thursday in
every nionih, and where applications for mem
bership may be made. The entrance foe has
been fixed at one dollr.r, and the contribu
tions at twenty-five cents per- month; and to
create a luud. the first annual ball oi the
Legion will be held at Nntlouai Guards' Hall on
Thursday, tho 1st of JIarch.
Second Pennsylvania Veteran Ar-
tillkky. The 2d Pennsylvania Heavy Artillery
Regiment was to leave Petersburg. Va., yestef
dav. en route for Philadelphia, to he mustered
out. The 2d Pennsylvania is the lareest regi
ment that took the field during the late Rebel
lion. Over lour thousand men nave served in
its ranks, and about one thousand will return
home wiih it. It participated in all of Grant's
creat battles, from the llnnidan to Petersburg
and took a conspicuous part in the final siccre of

on the small peninsula forme 1 by the James aud
Apponiatox rivers, a short distance from Ber
muda Hundred. Tho resitacnt is a veteran
organization, havintr left Philadelphia for the
seat of war over four yours since, one of the
first to c;o. and it is, believed the last Pennsylva
nia regiment to return home. The regiment is
commanded by Colonel S-rawbridRe at present.

change. The Twellth Annual Session of the
Corn Exchange Association was held last even
ing, at the hall, Second and Gold streets. The
report of the Secretary, Jlr. Joseph S. Perot,
was read. The Association now numbers 454
members. There have been added this year

have resiened. Nine members have died during
the year, viz.: ihomas Harnett, John Gibson,
Thomas KicharOon. Alexander lleron. Alexan
der Hocc. Joreph B. Craig, John Derbyshire,

Treasurer reports as follows :

ciation. a bill has been read in the Legisla
ture to incorporate the Philadelphia Botanic
Garden Association, which is to be formed for
the promotion and encouragement of agricul
ture, horticulture, arboriculture, and the study
of botany, by improving the growth ot plants,
introducing into this country new varieties and
species. D. Rodney Kine, Thomas Meehan. II.
C. Wood, Jr., M. I)., Louis Jack, Charles Har-
roer, Thomas Jd. James, and Charles G. Hayes
are named as incorporators, and the company
are not to hold more than flfiO.OOO worth of real
estate.
American Union Commission. A public
meeting oi tne AmericBu union commission
was held in the Young Men's Christian Associa
tion rooms last evening, lor the puipose of de
vising means whereby money may be raised for
the furtherance of the objects of the Commis
sion. Ex-Governor Pollock presided. A motion
of Mr. Bond's was agreed to. It was to the
effect that the Finance Committee be authorized
to appoint four collectors lor the different sec
tions ot tne city, to couoct tunda tor the benefit
ot the Commission, their compensation to be
fixed by the Committee. Addresses were made
by Mr. Parser, Mr. Adams, and Professor Todds,
oi Tennessee.

Anotiter Bridge. We understand that
another bridro is proposed to bo erected over
tho Schuylkill and the Hats or meadow and
grounds of the Pennsylvania Central Railroad

at Twenty-third street, to Powelton avenue on
the west' title.
MATTERS OVER THE RIVER.
An Old Man Frozen to Death. An
old andy unknown man was found late Monday
atternoou, iro.cn to death, in an open field on
the ElUsburtr turnpike, about three miles from
Camden. From appearances he was about
seventy years of age, and hail been dead three or
four day's. Coroner Koberts brought the body
into Camden, where he will keep H for a levv
days, In order th.-t his friends or acquaintances
may have an opportunity to rccogni.e it. De
ceased is bald-headed, had on a coat of dark,
sleel mixed cloth, clean white over and tinder
shirts, darkish pants, with a patch on one knc.
nearly new shoes, white woollen stocking, and
bis lace had been smoothly shaven. All his
apparel seemed clean and warm, but there wa
nothing found in his possession that would lead
to his recognition.
Sanitary Meastjrks. The City Council
seem to have become awakened to the necessity
ot commencins at an early day to prepare
nerainbt the anticipated approach of the cholera.
They nave given imperative 'orders to Marshal
Campbell to remove all nuisances, such as pig
pens, etc., before winter is broken up, and that
ollicer will commence operations at once. How
ever unpleasant to himself the task may be, it
is an order which he has to obey. Tho measure,
however, is one of great importance to the city
in a sanitary point ol vioiv, and should nave
been cnlorced long aao.
IIkarino of Casks. The cases of the
four men arrested on the cbartre of bavins par
ticipated in the fmcas on Saturday nicnt, In
v hich tho two bnthers Hoy wero so danger
ously slabbed in the abdonien, were pirtially
investigated Monday before the Mayor. In
order, however, to obtain other evidence, fur
ther inveetieation was postponed, aud the
prisoners recommitted to jail.
In Session. The Courts of Camdan
county resumed derations anin yesteiday,
and toot up the criminal business, wtncii em
braces a large number of cases yet to bs dis
posed of.
