An adjourned meet ing, of the Social Union was hold lat evening In the lecture-room of tbe Second Reformed Dutch C hurch. Seventh street, above Brown. Mr. I). W. C. Moore, President of the Union, occupied the rbair. Tho meeting was opened by the mov ing of a bvmn, alter which J. Y. Mitchell, of the Central N. L. Presbyterian Church, offered prayer. Addresses were delivered by Mr. Ward, Rev. Mr. Lowensbury, and Dr. Osier. The nomination of a board of managers was then referred to a committee of three. The com mittee repotted a list of names, and a board of managers was elected, coil-Unjj of fifty persons twenty-five of each tex the clergymen of the various Evangelical churches ol the city to be ex-oflicio numbers of the board. Dr. Osier reported r-tolutions looking to the erection of a tall for the uses of the society, and the obtain ing of funds for that piup'osc, which wire adopted. A hjmn was then snne, and the meet ing closed with the benediction. Fkknbylvania Military Legion. A number ot returned otlicern and privates, who served In the late war, have formed themselves into an organization similar to the Scott Lefrion of this city. The organization was projected by General John F. Hallier, late Colonel of the UHth Pennsylvania Volunteers, and the move ment received the support ol t'ie following regi ments: 27th, 73d, 75th, and I 8th Pennsylvania Jnlantry, tbe 6th and 12th Pennsylvania Cavalry, and the 29th New York infantry. Mem bers of nearly nil the regiments recruited in Pennsylvania have joined the organization, which will be know as tbe Pennsylvania Mili tary Legion. A meeting of the Committee appointed at the last February meeting of the High School Alumni to protect the interests of their Attna X;Ur. was held yes terday afternoon, President Lvnu, of the Select Council, In the chair. It was determined to prepare a report for the next meeting of tha Alumni, scttine forth the dangers to which the Jligh School is subjected by the attacks of its enemies, and suggesting the proper remedies to overcome them. The next meeting of the Alumni will doubtless be a highly important and interesting one. The Will op William Richardson was yee-teroay admitted to probate. The de ceased bequeaths one thoimnnd dollars to "Tho Contributors to tho Pennsylvania Hospital," one thousand dollars to 'The Northern Home for Friendless Children ;" the remainder of the estate is to be held in trust for the benefit of his children, prandcluld, and collateral heim. Barney Itourke had a hearing yesterday alternoon, cnarged with highway robbery. The til legation is that the defendant, in company with nnother man, at tacked and robbsd Mr." F. W. VViest, ot Twenty third and Lombard streets, on Monday evening, the 22d inst., of his gold watch and chain, valued at $200. The accused was committed lor trial. Fall from a Scaffold. George Sou ders, aged twenty-cieht years, was seriously injured about 4 o'clock yesterday afternoon, by the giving way of a scailold attached to a new building at Third and Berks Rtreets, upon which he was working. The sufferer was removed to his residence at Second and York otreets. 1 Dishonest Lad. A colored lad, ajjed twelve years, named l.aac Pumell, was charged at the Central Station yesterday afternoon with the larceny of fltteen dollars from his employer, Charles Williams, No. 138 Walnut street. Pur nell was held in the sum ot SO'iO to answer. .Fell on the Ice. Ann Deffy, residing in Bread street, near Race, broke her right arm yesterday afternoon, by falliug on the ice. The accident occurred at Ninth and Spruce streets. Sudden Death. A yrentleman from New Yoric, stopp'ug at the American Hotel, on Ches nut street, near Fifth, died suddenly yesterday alternoon.
