T Lend of this Company consists of 120 Acres, in D ecklcnburg county, North Carolina, 3H miles trom the town of Charlotte, on a branch of Sugar Creek, which stream furnishes good water-power for grinding the ores. This Mine was first opened in 1838 by a man named Cor son, who worked it successfully for a number of years He died In the town of Charlotte, In 1846, worth over ball a million dollars. lwo shafts have been sunk on this property, one of them feet, the other 60 leet, on different veins, averaging tiom two to three feet In thickness, which veins still continue on down increasing in width and richness. These shafts are in good order, and ore can be readily taken c nt at any time. Other veins have been discovered on this property, a;.d tested, and proved to be very rich In gold. The ores of this mine ore known as the brown ore. and very rich, yielding readily (I per bushel. This is believed to be one of the best and most certain mines in the State, on account of the abun dance and quality of the oie, aud the eae with which li is obtained and reduced. This property has been worked by Major Z A. Grlcr from 140 to the breaking out of the war. This Company have purchased this property, and Intend to erect machinery and put the mines in immediate operation, Tbe many advantages of this mine over the mines ot Colorado and Nevada can burdly be estimated. It.ls more readily reached, and has, abundance of fuel, with cheap labor. It can be worked all the'-year, and not, as In the case of Colorado andNevada.be compelled tolls ld.e for tbree or lour men t lis in consequence of tbe severity of the winter. This uime having Leen worked lor along time, proved to be a rich paying ono. We do not, thereiore, have to incur the risk there is in an undeveloped property, bu can count on large and immediate returns on tbe invest nicnts. Having an ore thutrcaUl y yields ten dollars pet bushel, soiuo estimate can be made of tho value ot tliU property. With the present Imperfect system of mlulng in this locality, and abbcuce ot proper machinery, tea tonsot this oie can be taken out dully from every shnit opened. Estimating, lay tl teen busne s to tbe ton, the dally yield will be flltcen huudied dollars iroraouo sliatt, allowing three hundred dollars per day for expenses. The uet ptoUuctwIll be 12u0 per day ; counting :W workln; days to the jear, the yearly proceeds will be ;ltin,0)u which yield can be largely increased by extending tho works. This is considered a very low estimate of the capacity of this mine by experienced miners ol that locality. The Assuycr of tho United States Mint at Cburlotto, In speaking of this property, says It bus low equuis in productiveness in that country, and with proper management aud uiuchluery the above product cuu be doubled.
