It appears by authentic certificates from Thomas Davis, fiirveyor, and from Major Hopkins now reiidmg in Philadelphia, that the body of these lands are not thirty miles from tfie ocean, apd principally within tide water ; that the Alatamijha is navigable for boats and rafts two hundred miles above, and for large vessels within ten miles of them ; that they are chiefly firlt rate pine lands, producing tirpber equal in .quality to any in the date of Georgia, polfeging the fame advantages of navigation.
