REVIVAL OF THE SLAVE TRADE. —If Gover nor Adams, of South Carolina, hadrecomrnetid ed in his recent message the enactment of a law reviving the practice of burning witches, it would not have been more universally con demned than his proposition to revive the Slave Trade. The press of the South has opposed the project with a unanimity rarely exhibited upon any political subject. We have seen <■- nough of such articles to fill our paper. In South Carolina, too, the proposition has met with very decided opposition, not only from the press, but in the Legislature. So general has been the condemnation of this project, and so universal tire prevalence of a desire to secure the ascendancy of wise and conservative coun sels, that th- Riack Republicans have been ut terly foiled in tii -ir efforts to excite new alarm and ill-feeling in reference to the ill-timed pio jcct. PETER SCHELL, Treasurer. Scbellsburg, Jan. 9, 1857. Privsio DISARMED OF ITS Tiir.ttons. Eve ry person is interested in hearing that Dr. Clicl:- ener, of New York, has invented a medicine of the most certain and powerful purgative quali ties, which is vet so gentle that its operations on the system are entirely unfelt. ItsactiiO is al together unattended with griping or nausea, and still rafife to enhance its value, it is coated with white sugar, so that it leaves no unpleasant ta<te in the mouth. In fact its flavor is so un like phvsic, and its srtion is so perfectly gen tle, that anv person may swallow a Hose with out suspecting that he has taken physic at all, unless through its ultimate effect, which is powerful and positive, even on the most costive constitutions. We need not comment on those great advantages of ('lickener's Sugar-Coated Vegetable Purgative Pills, over other medicines, as they must be obvious to all, forthe.-eare few persons who do riot require physic occasionally, and fewer still who have not a rooted aversion to the nauseous and racking compounds which, before the appearance of these pills, were the only characters which physic ever assumed. Iri iess than five wars, Clickener's Sugar-Coated 5 egetable Pills will supersede all other purga tive medicines, for no person will consent to have his stomach turned, and his bowels racked with these old fashioned preparations, when he might have the desired object accomplished much more thoroughly l>v a new one, whose effect is unaccompanied bv the slightest offen sive sensation, (2w.J if??
